Sniping Techniques and Tips
This guide is for all of you snipers that want to know some good sniping techniques and tips.
Techniques:
The Jump-Crouch shot:
jumpcrouch sniping is used to make it harder for the enemy to hit you.
1. Jump to the left or right
2. While in mid-air, crouch and zoom-in your sniper
3. As soon as you hit the ground, shoot your sniper rifle
4. As soon as you make the shot, Press the Q button 2x really fast, and take cover behind a wall (holding A or D).
Note that you have to actually aim the crosshair at the enemy for this to work. This technique of sniping takes alot of practice to master so dont be discouraged if you cant seem to do it at first.
This technique works well for all sniper rifles.
Peek-A-Boo Technique:
The peek-a-boo technique is pretty much where you come out from behind a wall zoom and shoot then go back behind the wall.
1. come out from behind the wall (Holding A or D, and preferrably zoomed out of the scope)
2. Either crouch or stay standing, then zoom-in.
3. shoot at your enemy (aiming at them of course).
4. press Q two times really fast while you go back behind the wall.
ALTERNATE 4. with a automatic sniper such as the DSR-1, after you shoot at your enemy go back behind the wall while still zoomed into your scope, then repeat the seqence.
This technique is better with an automatic sniper rifle (such as the DSR-1, PSG-1, etc.)
Strafe Sniping:
very simple form of sniping
1. Strafe back and forth (A and D) zoomed out of the scope
2. as soon as you see the enemy, stop strafing, zoom in (crouch if wanted), and shoot.
3. press Q 2x fast while going behind a wall
Hard-Scope Sniping:
the most basic form of sniping
1. Stand or crouch halfway behind a wall or in the open while zoomed in at an area most common for the enemy to come out.
2. just stay there until the enemy comes out.
3. shoot the enemy.
4. press Q 2x fast while going behind a wall.
Quick-Scope Sniping:
an advanced way for players to snipe
Quickscoping takes a while to get a hang of as you have to know where you zoom in exactly, but very effective.
1. wait for the enemy to be in sight
2. zoom in and shoot (while making little time to aim; flicking your wrist slightly usually works in every sniping encounter).
3. Press Q 2x fast and go behind cover if possible.
No-Scoping:
really only used for those pesky knifers in sniper matches!
1. if your enemy is in close range, aim your sniper in the exact middle of them.
2. shoot them.
Note that if u stop walking your accuracy will be more in the center, increasing your chance to kill them. crouching will further increase your accuracy. Also walking towards them increases your chance to kill him.
Travel Sniping:
Only use this method if you are extremely confident with your abilities to quickscope. Very helpful in SnD games, going through doors, and turning corners.
1. walk around where ever you want to go, keeping your invisible crosshair in the middle of the screen
2. when you see an enemy, immediately crouch, zoom in, and shoot.
3. Press Q 2x fast and go behind cover if possible.
TIP: always move your aim to the center of the screen. If you turn a corner make sure your invisible crosshair turns and adjusts to the middle of the screen again.
Useful Tips:
1. If the enemy is close to you, and you missed your shot, switch to your pistol and finish them.
2. You dont always have to reload after everytime you get a kill; reloading a sniper rifle takes a long time, leaving you vulnerable to the enemy.
3. Use different techniques during the match. Most people will catch on if you always jump-crouch and will aim to where you land, giving you more deaths.
4. Try different sensitivities, both regular and zoom in sensitivity; some players can play better with a higher sensitivity than a lower one, and vice versa.
5. if you are the last man standing in a SnD match and your up against 3 enemies, dont be afraid to drop your sniper and pick up someone elses rifle.
6. if you are up against 6 enemies in the same spot, running is always an option. either that or pick them off one at a time, sniping from a new spot each time.
7. In any game mode, NEVER stay in the same spot!!! sooner or later the enemy will pick up that you stay there the whole time and will either outflank you or throw a grenade at you.
8. Always keep a sniper rifle in one of your bags; there will always be a time when someone outskills you with a rifle, or there will be another sniper that always kills you.
9. If you see an enemy, and you get a leg shot on him (shot that doesnt kill him), and he runs behind a wall, be observative to all the places he can pop back up.
10. in sniper only games, if you cant kill a knifer with your sniper rifle, switch to your melee weapon and give him a taste of his own medicine!
11. and most importantly, never QQ about anything. calling someone a hacker just because they killed you is very annoying, and most of the time someone on your team will kick you. No one likes a QQ'er!!!

Using your Q button to switch impairs your movement, as you have to move your 4th finger up, pressing the right mouse button twice, or switching is a lot easier.
If you bunny-hop while 'Travel Sniping', you can skip the 'I have to crouch' stage and shoot them. -
Affz jumper noob F11! lol, but quickscoping is really THE BEST way to snipe, because in cf there isn't a scope in time. Better to aim before shooting as it's easier to aim out of scope than in, since you get practice with that when you're rifling, might want to add that.
Other than that, good guide. Might help some scrubs

Not really...I mean, if you're good at it, you're unbeatable, but there are WAY too many nubs that can't aim and die ALL THE TIME leaving one team essentially one man down for the rest of the game.
Point?- Only QS if you can, don't try to act like a boss.
