how to get higher fps?

i need higher fps because sometimes, my fps just suddenly drops during game. I tried programs like Game booster but it doesn't really help. in addition, i do not feel like buying anything new so please help

I downloaded Game booster thought it will help my FPS , I just put Game booster on and start my CF Then HGWC Dosent Fully Load and X-Trap Comes Out ....

Can u lot explain to me what is the fps really for?? my fps on the laptop is always around 36 and i dont see anything wrong in the game.. there is no lagg and the game seems normal

First off, i want to say FPS is the rate in which the screen turns from one scene to the other. When you have better/higher FPS your screen will respond faster to what should happen so you dont lag.

Another way FPS can be boosted is to turn your color and texture to low. This might effect the overall graphics but it is worth it.

Other than the first option you can go and turn off some un nessessary processes that is turned on in your task manager. If you need help on what to turn off/end you can PM me with what you have and i can tell you
NOTE: DO NOT END "WIN LOGON" if so your PC will be screwed.

Processes that is on from the task manager can effect network speed, FPS and CPU porforance

What I do to get more FPS is to close every program that I don't need. I usually just run CF, Vent and maybe Google Chrome for forums when I'm playing.

What might help is just restarting your computer before you want to play. Once restarted, just load of CF and play. Nothing can take away your RAM/processing power.

Yeah dont hear music with itunes.. just start cf no other programm ..

Start > Control Panel > System & Security > System > Change Settings > Advanced tab > Performance settings > "Adjust for best performance"

This is know to increase your FPS 15-20.

its a tutorial by me to revert the games font back to what it was before this patch.

before the patch, i had around 110+ fps in just about all game modes and maps.

after the patch, its around 40. i felt like I was gonna puke. thankfully a friend told me we could change our fonts in game, and I did. it restored my FPS instantly.

alternatively, you can try going into the Snd2 folder inside your Cross Fire folder and compressing all of the sound files. It sounds like a lot to do, but it took me like less than 5 minutes to do so. I gained 15 FPS just by doing so, and nothing was affected game wise.
