Though Alienware sells nice, up-to-date computers, they are also way too expensive. For the amount you pay for an alienware desktop, you could build a desktop yourself for 1/2 that price.

My friend plays with 1GB of RAM as well, and an okay processor. I sped up his FPS from 15 to 30-80 FPS by the following method: Start > Control Panel > System & Security > System > Change Settings > Advanced tab > Performance "Settings" > Adjust for best performance.
