Recording my Screen. I need you Help Please.

Hey guys and girls of Z8 Games, I need your help. I have never recorded my screen before but i would like to do some recording and make a video. However, i dont know what program to use and i have been hearing that the new patch is causeing some problems screen recording programs.

So my questions to You are:

• What is a good program to use?
• Is it free or do i have to pay for it, if so, how much does it cost?
• Would it work with Vista and the New Patch?

For desktop use Camstudio

Yeah fraps is for the high end computer I would say. So if you get around 60-100 fps per game in like a 6 v 6+ use fraps. If not then just try growler guncam. Both of these programs are free, but they might come with a trial period not sure.

Sony vegas is a great editing software. A lot of people use it and people like neoxpt are getting good at it.

growler guncam any good ? I have very decent computer playing around 90-200 fps, and I am playing deathmatch/egypt all the time 8v8, fraps messing up my FPS rate a lot, I cant even play my normal game when it's recording...growler guncam prevent that ??

growler is pretty much no fps lag. I use it on my computer, which is pretty bad, and I cant really tell the difference

growler is pretty good, fraps is absolutely awesome if you want perfect quality (although you have to 'pay' for it )

Fraps is best for everything,except Home Screen,Just use a camera :P

To answer my own question, recordings will come up with a 'growlersoftware.com' stamp after a 14 day trial period.

I wouldn't recommend Camstudio anymore
yes, it's free, yes theres no time limit and you can record audio, but lately, instead of a 10 seconds video, I had a 300 MB .avi file, which wasn't even working. A few days ago, I gave it another try...3 GB for 25 min video

I'm using Unregistred Hypercam now, I prefer having a working, normal size video with a water mark than having a maybe-not-working and 2 GB big file...

Growler is close to no FPS lag at all, but horrible quality. If you're using it in pugs/1v1's, then it's fine, but for something like a montage, I wouldn't recommend it.
