How to Pub like a Pro!
What up guys, its your friendly neighborhood Guru here and being a player that sucks (and I'm right there with you) , you have to learn a few tricks to keep that positive KDR. Here are a few tips that may help you expand your play for better performances in the Pub servers and CF in general. I'll be focusing on how to pick up those extra kills to boost your stats. Hope you enjoy it and find it helpful
1. Which Gun Are You?
To begin with, choose your gun! Crossfire is an awesome game in that it gives access (and permanently too, SMH Combat Arms) to a huge array of weaponry. The first step in any gunslingers day should be figuring out which gun he's slinging. The other great thing about CF is that the levels between the ZP and GP guns are scaled so that GPers can still have a fighting chance against their less-frugal counterparts. The advice here is to choose your gun and stick too it. The best m4ers and Akers aren't at the level where they can one-click your n00b face from A-Long on Blackwidow because they played with the P-90 there whole lives. Practice makes perfect and permanent so if you want to be lining up your crosshairs on heads instead of waiting to spawn you got to KNOW YOUR WEAPON! I don't mean just the basic stats of your gun. Everyone knows that the average rifle has 30/90 clips. You have to feel your rifle. Each gun has a specific firing rate that empties the clip at different times, different spray pattern, and a different damage ratio. Its knowing/feeling these differences that makes the difference in the battle of kill or killed. So you say, Guru, I'm a new player and don't want to spend money, how do I know which gun to choose? Simple, they have two maps for it. Crossroads and Alaska are perfectly designed to let players test out weapons that they would not normally have access too. Play around on these maps and get a feel for each weapon and use that to decide what gun you want to put in that holy BAG 1 of yours.
2. Why Did They Make SMG's?
Aside from the M12s, the Kriss series and the Thompson, the SMG class of weapon in Crossfire is just bad. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go there. SMG's leave you vulnerable to long range fire and are generally looked down upon by the community. Getting yelled at for using a "n00b cannon" while still taking M4's to the dome is not worth your time or energy. Instead spend time learning the art of the rifle. My recommendation is choose a gun from the AK or M4 series, excluding the 74 though I love it, the QBZ series, Scar Light series, K2, XM8 series, or AWM series. These are the best GP guns. The long range capabilities and instant HS kills make these guns superior to the rest in the game. Out of those guns the M4 and AK are the best.

3. The Map Decides The Gun
After just telling you to stick to one gun I'm going to sound like an hypocrite but, to maximize your kills on certain maps, guns that fit the general play style of those maps are necessary. On Egypt, which is largely close to mid ranged combat involving a lot of players, an SMG or AK will serve you the best for maximizing kills. A gun like the M4 will do fine, but it is just bad at taking on multiple targets unless you are exceptionally skilled with it. On the other hand, most SnD maps are mid to long range with single engagement skirmishes, a format in which high accuracy guns like the AWM and M4 shine. This isn't to say you cannot post good scores with an M4 in Egypt, its just that to maximize kill count you have to keep the general play style of the map in mind and plan that BAG 2 accordingly.
4. Invest In Headphones
Honestly, its the saddest thing to watch someone in GM or SnD when they get back reaped by a LOUD assassin. I get called "rak n0b" a little too much for spinning on someone when they stepped on a metal plate. CF is a game where pin pointing footsteps is essential to success. Therefore, BUY THE DAMN HEADPHONES. They don't have to be Beats either. Just get a pair of headphones, which you should have already for you PC for music, and get noticeably better overnight. A good way to practice using your new headphones is play Ghost Mode as GR. Learning how to use your sense of hearing will push that KDR up at least .25, .5 if you weren't using sound at all.
5. Know Your Opponent
If your a trainee in Alpha server, chances are your going to be picked by a SPOP with a fancy gun. If your a SPOP with a fancy gun, chances are you'll get picked by a trainee. Every dies to a HS, EVERYONE. What separates the trainee from the LT is one is better at putting the crosshairs on the other's forehead. So how do you beat some one better then you? How do you prevent your self from getting picked by a worse player? KNOW YOUR OPPONENT! Figure out who your shooting at, get in their head and think about what they are going to do and how they are going to do it.
Against Better Players
What pro's have on you is that they are better at aiming. The best way to negate this is to get in close. Cutting the distance between you and the pro is the best way to get them as it gives you a fighting chance of landing the HS or spamming enough round in their direction to kill them. DO NOT ENGAGE THEM IN LONG RANGE COMBAT. YOU WILL DIE. The other thing to remember is that they CAN die, so the next time a Patriot picks you from across the map through a box in one shot, just remember that the next time you see that person, one round in the head will put them down.
Against Worse Players
What noobs don't have on you is aim so the best strat is a post and pick. If you encounter a noob immediately stop and post up (start a strafe and aim for the head). Most deaths that I've had against me by bad players were when I ran full tilt into a room and got knocked by a sprayer. Play defensively. Also, body shots are fine at long range as they'll give you plenty of time to make the kill. Lastly, don't rage when you are killed by a n00b, it happens to everyone. The best thing to do is shake it off and promptly put them in their place.
6. Other Strategies For Successful Pubing
Pubs are a place where the most important thing is boosting your KDR, these tricks will help you pick up more kills per game.
Camping Is Legal
Camping is a great way to up your KDR and kill count provided you use it wisely. Excessive camping and camping for a long period of time will clue your opponent in to what you are doing. The best way to camp is pick a spot of medium activity, early in the game for SnD matches, take your kill or two and move on. My favorite camping spot is behind the crates and above the trench by A-Long on Eagle Eye. I'll jump over the box when I hear foot steps, pick the two pressers and move up A-Long. Camping, when used defensively and intelligently is an easy way to make the kill.
Plant Early, Defuse Late
Your BL, you get a bomb for a reason. Planting the bomb early will force action from the GR team and will make them play aggressively. This type of play is easily punished when met with a strong defense. Planting the bomb early will force the other team to come to you, putting them at a disadvantage. On the other end of the spectrum, if your on GR team, defuse late. You shouldn't care as much about your team losing as you should about picking up the points. Also, killing everyone on the map will make the defuse a more stress-free process. Let your team mates worry about the bomb and help them by picking the careless BL trying to pick them (this works especially well in GM)
Bait And Tackle
When attacking a hostile building, the first guy in usually takes the bullet, so why be that guy? On a map like Fortress, unless your pretty sure of your ability to clear the rooms on either side of the map, let someone else go first. He'll likely pick up a camper bullet and you can swoop in for the kill. EASY MONEY! While this kind of play is not recommended in a Clan War, using n00bs as bait is fine to do in a Pub match.

Definitely some good advice. I completely agree with choosing either the M4A1 or the AK47, they are both the default guns to me, and are both absolutely beautiful in Crossfire with their amazing statistics. I'm an M4 user, but will probably switch over to AK once I can afford one.
