To be honest. from my stock 3.4 - 3.9. No difference was noticed. 4.0 I noticed a Jump.CookieMunzta wrote: »Intel chips shouldn't need to go anywhere near that high for better performance
I suppose if someone could get a 2700k unlocked from 5.0GHz they could give it a shot, especially since Intel can traditionally take on heat better than AMD.
The only problem with the 1155 is that it has a relatively locked base frequency, as in everything's coupled within that frequency, so theoretically you could get it up to say 160MHz base clock, but you'd screw up everything else in the system.
Not sure if 2011 take that same route, wouldn't be surprised.
But even so, nobody really needs to go past 4.6GHz
Knowing that trying to acheive the 4.2 on my chip I don't see being worth it. Other then shortening the life of the chip due to the High voltages. -

I'm sticking to 4.6GHz, as that's where my 2500K is really at home.
The main notable differences I felt when moving from 3.5GHz for a day, up to 4.6GHz was the sheer render and conversion speeds. Both AVS and Windows DVD Maker only use one core so I figured it'd make a notable difference in that department.CrackinDomes wrote: »Faster then everyone but Cookz at this point.
FIREEAGLES BOOTED UP IN 8 SECONDS!
Oh nevermind he broke it.
Also have you noticed that when you go to use a computer that doesn't have an SSD, it just feels, weird? -
Ya its really weird. Im debating on another SSD 120GB or bigger is next. For games or whatever I decide I wanna put on it.CookieMunzta wrote: »I'm sticking to 4.6GHz, as that's where my 2500K is really at home.

After OS, Updates, Drivers, Service packs, etc. out of the 60gb on my current SSD got 20gb left. -

I personally wouldn't buy an SSD just for games. The only benefit is loading times, and real-time stream games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator

Was thinking too. Just to **** my buddy off. Any difference from 16 - 32 gb's of RAM. Cause from 4 - 16 to be honest didn't see any difference. LoL.CookieMunzta wrote: »I personally wouldn't buy an SSD just for games. The only benefit is loading times, and real-time stream games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator

The only game I can think of right now that utilizes 8GB of RAM is BF3, and that's only if you're running it on ultra with a ≤1GB GPU.
What with your SSD, presuming PS and Vegas are on there, I couldn't see you needing over 16GB even for heavy usage of those.
As soon as the next gen consoles come out, you'll start noticing the difference between 4-12GB

Haven't installed PS or DW yet. Shortly. Other then that don't have plans for anything else.CookieMunzta wrote: »The only game I can think of right now that utilizes 8GB of RAM is BF3, and that's only if you're running it on ultra with a ≤1GB GPU.

Actually here is a good question for ya. How do I override my system to save it to another HDD instead of Windows defaulting it to the SSD. EVERY install I have to manually select which HDD I want it to go to. Cause obviously I'm not saving everything too the SSD. -
****ing awesome. Will be doing this when I get out of work.CookieMunzta wrote: »Open regedit, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

CurrentVersion
Change the path in the string to wherever the HDD is (in my case G:\Program Files (x86))

I had to do the same, I hated having to keep making or finding the correct folders
Word of warning though, a few games out there dislike this due to the DRM, CoD4 for example, but it shouldn't be too big an issue. -
Don't and Won't own any of the COD series so not worried.CookieMunzta wrote: »I had to do the same, I hated having to keep making or finding the correct folders
