Giving breath downs was too much I think, is a very powerful item to give out to everyone and their grandmas.
I disagree on the katana, I along with many other players use zp melee which are op as HELL compared to knife, why shouldn't some people even the odds and get a temp sub-par zp wep as well?
I don't get your notion of 'mastering the knife before zp wep', why should one master the knife? We are here to get frags win games have fun.
Getting unfairly vote kicked is a pain in the ass no doubt, but what do you mean when they kill a lt and gloat about it? aren't you being a little sensitive here?

Anyone with bdown or a melee other than the axe, not so much the katana (easy to kill people that have it) are considered noobs by good gmers.
One can only say he's good at GM when he doesnt use bdown or kukri or shovel. I hate the kids now that think they're good while using all these OP things.

What's the problem, I mean its annoying as hell playing with bdowners and zp users but it gives you a real challenge and increases your skills and such.
And as for playing BL I personally don't like using BD although I have it on sometimes when i log on ._. I like the challenge on killing GR the hard way.
And in pubs people can use whatever they want to so why look down upon them and judge them by what they use.( I fall in this category as well, judgin people by what they use in PUBS

Never really played GM that much till last month but now have a better appreciation for good GM players , so many think they can B'Hop but fail ( lol probably me included ) , nothing funnier than watching a ghost crouched jumping backwards accross the map then taking aim and headshoting followed by him screaming at you HAK , AIMBOT KICK ect .. i consider myself quite a good player in general but i have learnt alot from some seriously good GM players lately.

The problem with people getting free Katanas, as has been said all along, is the fact that its not just one, two, or three. Its 7-8 per team. Ordinarily, 4-5 on a team have zp weps.
The knife, as an underpowered piece of ****, teaches ninja skills. To use a knife effectively, you have to be silent, fast, and aim for the right places. If you don't, you die. These knife skills build the foundation of a pro ghost. Really, who has more skill? The person who sneaks up, stabs you with a knife in fron of three teammates, and gets away unharmed, or that sergeant with the Katana who charges/camps and kills you through pure luck and the insane reach of his op weapon?
I don't mind the QQ/gloating, its nothing new. But when 4 sgts with Katanas start spamming about their "pwnage skills", it irritates the hell out of the pros in the match. So we step it up. Sufdenly, there are 4 noobs QQing about a lts "haks", and said lt finds himself mysteriously back in the lobby, that gets old. Fast. Yeah they use what they want, but for godsakes don't just GIVE it to them. Make them prove their gm skills first.
Also, there is no challenge with bd. On relics with no other noise, i can hear a sgt on the ramp to b when i stand in a, a distance of about 50 feet. If the same ghost has bd, i hear him 10 feet away. If he has axe or knife, he's dead. Shovel, Kukri, or Kris, dead if I get a hs in time. Katana? There's no way I can overcome the right click "hold & tank" AND the range. Invariably I die. Its not a question of improving my skills, its a matter of facing an impossible enemy.

Also, rank does not mean they're veteran. I used an example of when people usually matute enough to not kick you. Of course anyone can kick. I've been kicked by captains before. Maybe they want your ace... maybe they farmed their rank... maybe they bought the account. Maybe they feel inadequate next to you.. Nope, suddenly the chat is filled with "HAK! HAK! KICK HAK! F11!" which is nothing new. However, when 4 or 5 noobs on the team start saying it, your teammates might think they're telling the truth, and bam, you're out of the match. And do y'a know what? Other veterans (Usually master sarg or higher) do NOT spam "HAK" when you kill them. They get the fact that they made a slip up, and you made them pay.... with their life.
I have news for you noobs out there. Do not trifle with the experienced, and if you do, do NOT call hack on us.

Dude, I am a "low-level" player, I usually play GR, and I always ending up getting kicked by the "PRO HIGH RANKED " players. " Noobs " will kill you 1/10 , YOU will kill them 9/10. Just do the maths
Oh and katana ? You get mad because " noobs " get a 7-day free Katana ?
Guess what ? Katana ( in my honest opinion ) is a %$^% melee . It's soooooo slow. The only good about it, is its range. Yeah, you don't get mad about Kriss and you get mad about Katana . GJ
PS : How do you think Z8 is gonna make money ? They will wait until every " noob " reaches 1st LT to donate ? Gimme a break.

Well to each his own, but I'd like to point out some issues here. It is fairly obvious who is a noob and who isnt. Rank is not a measure of noobishness.
ZP guns haven't even been discussed -.-. I never implied we should stop low ranks from buying ZP weapons or BD, and certainly not that they shouldn't buy ZP. What this WHOLE thread is about is the fact that Z8 gives away these items for FREE. Every semi active noob gets a high powered Katana for 7 days by AFK-ing in tdms. The noobs then inflate their egos. The pros then burst their bubble by reminding them how nooby they are. Then the QQing starts.
The Katana is hailed as the universal melee camping weapon. Range plus right click hold make it so. Combined with bd, camping ghosts win every time. And how do noob bls play? By camping. See the issue?
I didnt mention Kris because the number of Krises is low. I see maybe one a day. Also, the Kris is not given out as a DM reward, so it does not result in hoards of noobs flooding GM.
My scores are vs noobs because thats what this thread is about - when noobs **** off pros. Did you even read the thread? -.- -

i like the fact they give katana out for mission reward. it gives noobs a chance to get kills they wouldn't normally get. an easy weapon for them to use. makes the games closer. but a skilled player has a much higher potential with axe and all other zp melee. so i don't see what the problem is.

i dont mind it when people use a katana, it makes them slower if they just run at me, and if they can hop consistantly all it means is that they have to hop less far.
I dont even bother pinpointing anymore unless its a scrim, and i still go posative 90% of the time, people failhop more than they seem to know. -

1.It's not that they are low ranked, because tbh rank doesn't matter. However, the overall skill level of people that camped the whole game with a katana was pretty much BR level. While you think it's slow because you're a bhopper, people that got BD from that event and then the katana went 5-1 even though none of them had any idea how to play GM.
2.How exactly are free items supposed to generate money? If they wanted ZP items, then buy ZP. -

if you can't kill noobs that have a katana, you need big improvements on your game. it is not the katanas fault you can't hear breath.
The thread is not a QQ thread about dying to katanas, but rather a discussion of the katana and whether or not melee weapons should be given out in DM.
While it's fine to use a free weapon, it's kinda annoying to have a whole team camping and using katanas, which is fairly OP when you consider the amount of breath you can hear is hindered by people spraying, meaning camping katanas can kill you with their OP range before you hear them.
