bandicam problem

K so i got the full version of bandicam and I cannot seem to find the solution to the following problem on their site:

I setup the recommended settings as mentioned on the frost gaming draft thread but when i press the hotkey to record nothing happens and no recording appears in my output folder. When I change the target, however, to "rectangle on screen" a semi-transparent rectangle appears on my screen and it actually does allow me to record and the recording does in fact appear in my output folder(this target is unplayable with crossfire as the rectangle will stay on my screen while on crossfire and I read it's for flash games anyway). I watched a sample video on a guy recording with bandicam and apparently he has an overlay of his fps on the top left hand corner of his screen(my fps doesn't appear even if i have the overlay checked in the settings). Also I am not able to press the record button. So has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

Run as admin?

Close xfire/mumble/any other interfering programs?

Different hotkey/triggerkey?

I think there is a difference between 32/64 bit. What do you have?

Try running compatibility mode possibly?

i'm running on xp so i don't think that applies
i have tried and it still doesn't work

I believe it's an option for windows 7 users so it doesn't apply either.
