What to do?

Im curious, what teams are actually quitting? What ruleset will ESG have now that the whole point was to get people ready for WCG? And will this game even be worth playing anymore now that it might seem like teams will be leaving?

  • i don't know, i'm supprised they haven't removed the competitive section yet and merged everything with clan section, we mine as well all migrate back to clan server and wear spops. (note this is cypher's dream)
  • LOOKS LIKE GP ONLY IS A VIABLE OPTION AGAIN.

See you *****es with my M12.
  • You are all morons.. most of you had no chance of getting to wcg in the first place.. How about everyone continues playing.. idk.. because its a game.
  • So spops and m12's? That actually sounds fun.

@chubrub I don't think anyone mentioned leaving because of WCG.............

LPK quit, err has gone inactive.

isn't that what this thread was about...

One of the few teams with a reason to quit. Most people aren't good at other games. Don't even know if you're playing another game.

Well the thread itself was created as a result of what WCG is doing,so I guess you're kinda right. But theres more variables. Like when a couple a teams leave it creates a domino effect of other teams leaving and stuffs. So im just asking what teams besides LPK are actually bailing?
  • Better question. What GOOD teams are leaving? No point in playing if only horrid teams are left behind.
  • we should introduce more gp guns into the competitive scene. qbz/xm8/k2/type89. and colored smoke grenades (why are these illegal usually?)

as far as i know klan kaos will be staying since we are only playing ESG, none of us considered to play WCG because we are from different countries however if this so called league takes too much time to come out we are moving to a different game. It's also sad to see lpk go because they were one of the few teams we really enjoyed playing.
  • only like 2-3 teams even had a chance at the wcg spot so really nothing will change except for the activity of those 2-3 teams possibly. this is a game and you play it for fun essentially and not for the money.
  • Downloading Crossfire on my Blackberry; Be the best like no one ever was. See you suckers later

It comes down to several things. What happened with WEM/WCG kind of sealed the deal.
    1) Individually people have matched / surpassed our skill.
    2) We haven't had the motivation to get real team practice in.
    3) Playing for 20k ZP is nice and all, but buying ZP isn't a problem for us.
    4) Sype enjoys playing source far more than crossfire.
    5) Minty is minty. He lacks motivation to do anything.
    6) Polo wants to play CS:GO.

JBiel and I will most likely lurk around occasionally. I made a post on esea and some old friends saw it and invited me to play on their team, but they want me to call and that isn't gonna happen. I haven't really enjoyed source since like 2008, and apparently the game is way different now than it used to be.

I don't know if LifeLine is quitting, but I don't think the c2 cats will stick around. They most likely will be like us and play it by ear. I believe facedown has already left for source. I don't know what LL.USA is doing, but Jaime/Pablo quit cf after they lost in the last wcg qualifier. I am assuming they will do the same. I believe HammerTime is pugging 1.6 in esea-open.

All and all, it looks like ESG just took a bit to long to come out. Maybe if teams were already competiting they would have more motivation to stick around, but it might be too little too late. Although from talking with the ESG crew, their ideas are solid and should make for an interesting community. It's just a question of what type of shape the competitive community will be in by the time ESG launches.

Old 2K style training, time to get my CW up! Doop and you Biel should join the dark side; boost that clan war ratio =P

In preparation for this event I am ready to do battle with my armor, silenced m4 and kukri.

As it is now, there are only 2-3 "good" teams, so if they quit, the competitive scene should grow considering the top spot would be "up for grabs."
  • the competitive scene went downhill

as soon as you took away my xm8
  • To be honest, this is the only game where I play semi-serious,and it would be a dayum shame if all/most of the good teams left. All that would remain are the same 2-week teams that plague this game. Then again,I have mw3 to fall back on. All gewd.

More like when they decided to ninja patch the M4 during a tournament.

Lets not forget the ak nerf during the WOGL tourney as well.
  • might finally get the idea to allow armor into competitive play considering you're basically always "bought up" (nades/flashes/smokes, primary and secondary gun) and having a rule that allows no armor gives m4 an advantage over ak

agreed plus all these kids played before wem/wcg cause they do this for fun not just to go to china besides they all know they arent gonna go to china
  • Hopefully ESG comes out before people start to leave.
  • It shouldn't be an argument though. Im simply asking a question. I really didn't expect anyone from this community to answer it without starting an argument though. Especially when people get butthurt easily. Anyways I don't think many teams where prepped for WCG this year since only like 3 teams are fully american or canadian.

    Hopefully ESG brings back LPK.
  • I never planned to go to China or WCG anyways, but because this happened, teams (the good and bad) are deciding to leave. Even though I play this for fun and not that serious, the competitive play takes a bit hit. Maybe in the future things will lighten up, just have to wait, hopefully not too long.
  • Good points made here from a lot of people. Yes, we are still around. Yes, we are taking a lot longer than originally projected and I understand that need now more than ever for something. The ESG team is working diligently every day to get the kinks worked out to where we can present ourselves in the highest and most professional manner. We are not going anywhere and we will be running events in Cross Fire, be it with new teams and/or old teams.

It's a shame to hear about WCG going down like this. Maybe, this will open up the door for some more local events down the road for us. I certainly have goals to host live events in the future and this may just open up that door, who knows. We will explore every available option to help build the community back up. Consider this a restart button being pushed for the community (with WCG leaving). No reason it can't be built back up with a little hard work. Call me crazy.

As per the rule sets, you bring up good points and I am going to have several meetings with my staff on this topic and see what we come up with. The primary motivation of the rule set was to prepare teams for WCG, but we also had a secondary motivation to keep the rule set simple. We will try to keep true to that and see where we end up after the meetings.

All in all, this is a pretty severe blow to the motivation of teams that were sticking around. I will do everything I can and our team will do everything they can to ensure that you guys have something to do pretty soon. We are over the hill now and coming down the other side. I promise we will deliver spectacular results. I expect nothing less from my team and the quality of work that is put out under our name ESG.

Only Ralf, Jkeith, and Gumboots left for source. Not anyone else from facedown.

Only RALF and Gumboots left. Jkeith quit, and Erick is playing both source and CF.

Well, WCG's rule set was put in place to create the most competitive environment possible. There's no reason to change the rule set seeing as, and I'm just assuming here, players want the highest level of competition.

armor gives advantage to m4 users over ak users? what are you smoking because it should be illegal
