Anyway, the odds that there was and is a planet similar to Earth are extremely high, however the chances of intelligent life being present and far enough evolved to the point where long range space travel is possible for them is far less likely.

Didn't they already find alien life on Mars in the form of basic bacteria or something similar to that? If so aliens exist just not the way you expected or rather what Hollywood made you expect.

As for any talk of an invasion, refer to the statement I made about the low probability
(I'm guessing we're talking like one billionth at the highest, I'm no expert on the subject so the number came out of thin air) of there even being a species capable of doing such things.

I'm not going to waste my time theorizing about little green men coming and killing us all, instead I'd rather worry about something of a least more importance, such as perhaps the presidential election. Also, if they have that type of capability the odds of any successful defense against them is essentially nil, no?

That is a very valid reason for aliens not to invade us, because that would be too easy and, also if there IS one alien species, there should also be mutiple species.

Then you could imagine that they actually communicate with each other, like our United Nations. They might have something like United Planets, right?

So any atrocities against a weak planet such as earth, will be met with United Planets condemnation, sanction and even military intervention.
