Lower Ping

Anyone know any good ways of lower your ping? My ping in alpha is normally 220 ((australia) but now its around 268. this goes for other games that i played my ping has increased for some reason. My net is fine I didnt download any extra stuff.

One thing that might help but will only mostly keep your ping more stable is to open the ports that the game uses.

Also if you are using wifi then you might want to try using a hard line connection to see if that improves things.

My ping was about 240 until I realizes my internet rate was 6mbps, I upped it to 18, and that my bandwidth was being taken up being either processes such as torrents, or open tabs on other computers in the house. Solution may be to play at night when less people are on and close all the processes. Last resort get better internet speed/wired instead of wireless.

Ping is mostly based on distance and the type of communication infrastructure between the distance. you might be able to lower it slightly by changing your internet settings but that would only be a 10-20 decrease at best.

Only good way to lower ping is to move closer to where the servers are.
So your options are:
(1) Move closer.
(2) Find a closer version of CF.
(3) Accept playing with high ping.
(4) Quit the game.

This is true. I agree although my case may be special. I was at 250 and now am at 41 which is an exception as I am already close to the server so my issue was more third party isp issues.
