A.V.A/Soldier front has more leagues out there to play as of now. CF isn't "really" alive anymore. Ever since they came out with CFEU and other things. Games just dying slowly. -
It was also just an overall fun pug. You come in there randomly there would be an admin there. You played a pug that people actually tried in and didn't mess around. Then you had some older members of the community help younger members. I actually got helped a lot from blitzd and some other players during 2010 summer.

Did I do something to you for not to be speaking to me Dac? -

AVA doesn't have any leagues for it. They have little occasional tournaments over the weekends sometimes but there is no actual league, and those little tournaments are extremely disorganized.
This game is probably still the most competitive FTP FPS. Can't say about Soldier Front though, cuz I've never played it. -
Actually, when ava had the monthly CGO tournaments, those were some of the most organized and best quality tournaments I have ever seen for an online competition. Always had decent shoutcasters, always casted from the loser-bracket quarterfinals to the real finals. Casters were not a complete joke like they are here. They did these monthly and had better prizes then wogl did for their seasons (which I still haven't received).
The organization itself was way better then anything wogl or esl put together. I could talk to an admin at any point during the tournament, things got resolved within 10 minutes of the dispute (minus one time) and the most intriguing thing? This was all done via the game forums/xfire. I would love to get something like that here.
Don't bash what you don't know.
I'm referring to what's going on NOW, not CGO. I played AVA competitively for a good 6 months or so, so it's not like I'm not speaking from experience.
CGO was really good, but the thing that lost them a lot of teams is that everything was played on Saturday and Sunday. If they had turned it into more like a 2 week thing they would have had a much better turn out. I know of a lot of players that couldn't commit to doing nothing but playing AVA for an entire day (possibly two if your team was good), including myself, and that's one of the reasons I stopped playing.
