What's better for gaming?

Amd or intel?
Such as processor....and yea let me know.

Comments

  • i personally think intel. i have an 13 and it runs prefectly. i wanna know what an i7 (2nd gen) can do.
  • Intel has the newer, better things coming out at the moment.
  • is the intel i5 2500 good?
    vs the amd six core?
  • Intel outperforms AMD in every aspect, always has, always will.
The AMD Bulldozer actually blue-screens alot of Steam games.

    A moderately OC'd dual-core i3 2130 has outperformed an AMD 1100T hex-core.

AMD are still great for budget builds, however with the release of the new 3rd gen i7, the second gen prices are hopefully going to drop down a little further.
  • nothing to say that has alrady been said intel is best.
  • I like intel but depends if it is i7 or i5 both have flaws but also depend with other parts of the computer.
  • Get the i5 2500k i have the i7 2600k Which is NOT ment for gaming ment for Video decoding etc.
The i5 2500k is for gaming and u can overclock which is preety simple.
If u buy a MSI Mobo it will be no problem to Over Clock
Just buy a After Market Cooler.
i Have a Custom Liquid Cooled
u Can get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

  • Intel Core i7 and you won't need to get another CPU for a long, long, time.

Half and half, depends on which i7 you buy, since alot of them, such as the 2600K, have more video encoding and rendering benefits than anything.

The i5 2500K is still pound for pound the best retail processor out there right now, not to mention it OCs like a dream.

Get the new 3rd gen i7 and set yourself for the next few years at least ;)

Or you can get any i7 and be set for years to come. Not everyone is an enthusiast like you my friend.. A lot of other people use the processor for things other than benchmark purposes. There is a small difference in terms of gaming performance with CPU's most games 90% GPU based and will stay like that for a long while.

Back on my statement, get an i7 and you'll be set for a long time. Do you realize how minimal the performance ACTUALLY is in an i7 family from going main processor to the enthusiast i7's? It's still the same archetecture; it isnt a P4 to a E6600 spike..

Core i7 is a great buy for a casual gamer or someone who wants to pump some more Ghz out of it without extra voltage. Or you can go extreme haha

It really depends on what you're looking for, I do have an enthusiast outlook on rigs, but I can also build to a budget and squeeze the best out any price tag.

But an i7 isn't always the best way to go. They're the best all-round CPUs, for sure, but in most games performance difference is minimal in comparison to the cheaper i5s for example.

Alot of games are still CPU dependant, the majority of which are horrid ports, or badly put together (CoD BlackOps, Saint's Row II, BFBC2, etc). It's unfortunate that consoles are holding us back, but meh.

Those Extremes OC like crazy. I have a Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9650, and I've gotten that up to a stable 5.2GHz watercooled without shifting the voltage too much at all, however with my i5 2500K, which I'm putting at 4.6GHz, I'm going to have to shift up a few increments of 0.5 in terms of voltage.
