New to CF - Former TFC/CS Player

Hey Everyone, I used to play Halflife, TFC, and Counterstrike, oh god 10 years ago for about 5 of them. I haven't gamed for about 5 years on any PC related games, but I ran accross this one and have found it rather, well how do I say... holy gee golly willagers batman this thingermabob is gnarly. Wow. Lame. Hahaha.
Anyway, Looking forward to running into all of you in the servers.. i've worked my way up to Sgt or something now, and I'm getting the hang of things.

I've noticed the Clan stuff going on here. A Couple of questions.

1. Legitimate clans?
2. Tournaments?
3. Leagues?
4. Organized game play?


What's happening and how is the community around here?

A patch is coming in the next week I believe, the community here consists of a few good players, alot of randoms and forum regulars.

Welcome to CF.

The question of "legitimate" clans is a tough one. If you mean legitimate as in not hacking, then the majority of clans are. As for well known clans, take a look at the top 5 clans in the clan section, as well as the clans of many of the forum regulars, who you'll undoubtedly get to know in time. CF tournaments are a relatively new feature, but will hopefully become a regular occurrence. You just missed the Autumn Assault tournament, but you can take a look at how it went down here. As for organized play, get yourself a clan and head over to the Beta Clan server for scrimming. There's also a PUG league in its early stages at the moment, and it's worth checking out. Look around the Barracks for more info on that.

1. Legit clans are usually small and skilled.

2. We had the Autumn Assault a little bit ago (that my team won first place in!)

Other than that, not really a whole lot going on as far as independent tournaments go.

4. There is the PUG system, which is played following the standard 5v5 SD format and also requires a recording program (growler guncam, fraps, etc.)

Good place to start.

the pug they are talking about is deff a good place for u to find a good, legit clan, and meet new people... most ppl that come in there are fairly skilled, but dont be shy ... if u want to check it out go to the following ventrilo address ->

1.Legitimate clans: uNt0uchables and Executable are small clans and I can give you 100% that they are no hackers,(best portugueses clans btw). Big clans have always hackers so its difficult to prove that are legit.

About the Leagues point... There is the ESL, an EURO league, and the North American Segment is coming soon...

Well, top ten clans are well known, but are looked down upon by many people for solely being "points" clans. For every five hundred exp you get ingame, you get one clan point. I suggest you play the game for a little while so you get to know some of the better clans, or at least play with them for a while.

Hey thanks for the information. Yeah been playing for about 4 days now, and getting the hang of it. Been using my laptop and have been doing quite well using my touchpad and not a mouse. Thank gawd I got Ultra High Speed internet so my ping is impeccable. Once I get a regular mouse to plug into my laptop I'll probably join a clan, because I wouldn't want to be a pain and be in top form. Mind you I've still got my old Counterstrike skills. lol, but I'm playing alot of crappy players and some that seem to shoot through walls. I'm still trying to figure out the ropes and get to know my way around.

I'll be around the forums. Mainly this one until I get used to everything. Got a girlfriend and 3 kids that can be a pain when not working or in daycare. lol

i should inform you that the community is terrible in game, but the majority of the forums are welcoming and respectful
just watch out for people ingame as they tend to blurt out "HACKER" when they are killed

There are alot of haackers
People whine alot about people they think hack
The game is very glitchy
At most 10% of the haackers in this game actually get banned
The community on the forums is decent but there are much better communities in other games

Suba was hell of alot more active, i'd say the forums lost most of its members in the switch

Yeah. These forums are a little hard to look at. Too much grey and white lettering, mesmerizing... confusing a bit...... Well GG Off to play some more CF.
