How to build a computer under $700
I've been playing crossfire and many other games in the past with a 600 dollar laptop that is honestly just terrible, I only get 30-40 fps in CF and i've gotten my laptop 2 years ago. I know absouloutly nothing about building computers, I was wondering what parts and stuff I should have. I just want to be able to play cf with about 150 fps and be able to run games like nba 2k12, skyrim and gta 4.

Total comes to $674.94. This will pretty much play all games on high settings no problems whatsoever.
And watch this video to learn how to build a computer. It goes into great depth and is very easy to understand

2500k is better
Gives you greater resale value, and overclocking potential.
Sigh...
Did you see his budget? Fitting a 2500k in there would mean he will have to compromise a bit on the GPU. And on top of that, if he wanted to overclock, he would have to invest more in after-market cooler. So for under $700, the i5 2400 is an excellent CPU. Of course the 2500k is a better CPU, but it's not a good fit for his budget. People only seem to recommend the 2500k and 2600k around here. They forget that Intel also makes a plethora of other CPUs as well -
I'd really pick a bigger frequency RAM, since it allows you to have an overall better performance on the PC over the normal usage, tough it's not something critical.
any other than that it's just the processor, it'll get old pretty fast :x
Sir/Madam please show me an actual proof where there's a significant performance increase from 1333Mhz vs 1600Mhz or higher.
Even the 2500k will get old within a few months, what's your point? -

2500 = 220 dollars
2500k = 230 dollars
i dont think adding 15 dollars to your budget would be that hardmajorwen123 wrote: »I just brought an alien ware m14x. -

...
2400, not 2500...
As he said;Kedaamikeda wrote: »Sigh...They forget that Intel also makes a plethora of other CPUs as well
Think before you post next time. -
you're so stupid
i'm telling him to add 15 dollars more to his budget
to get a decent cpu
The 2400 costs 190$, the 2500k costs 230$, that's a bit more than 15 dollars.
You shouldn't give other people computer advice since you obviously don't know how to balance a build to avoid bottlenecks. And you definately shouldn't call others stupid when you can't even understand basic maths. -

2500k
cost 230 dollars
as i said, i made a typo on the prices.

The 2500k is perfect for computer newbs overclocking, having it's own software and thus, being able to survive through at least 2 years without having any performance problems in the future, since it's performance is comparable to the 900x series.
and son, i use corsair's dominator GT's, 2000Ghz, it's just a slight difference, but th price difference is minimal, like, 10 bucks or something in here .-. -

Lowest priced 2000MHz RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313082
vs
1333MHz RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231425
$20 price difference. And that's not even a brand name RAM, which are even more expensive.
Daughter, it's not worth the absolute minimal performance increase. -

well .-.
here it was worth, 10 bucks for a 8gb corsair dominator gt 2000ghz over a 8gb kingston 1333ghz.
anyways, it's a matter of preference overall, but i like it, can play minecraft... LOL -
Meh, sorry take, I'm going with keda here. 1333 mhz ram is more than sufficient.
Regardless it isn't exactly hard to go find slightly cheaper parts online in terms of a gpu and other things in order to get enough money for the much more valuble 2500k. You're right, we do suggest the 2500k a lot. Because it's damn good.
My general rule is for a cheap pc - G530, low end, i3 2100, mid range 2500k, high end, 2500k, WTFOMGBBQSAUCE either a 2600k or now that I've seen it the SB-e processors. -
I need some help with my Pc

Uhmm.... Those specs are pretty lame, you can maybe get 30fps on lowest settings on minecraft but not sure...
If your budget gamer I'd recommend buying AMD, YES I know that Intel is better but you can get 4-core 3.4ghz with just 120$, Compared to 2500k that costs 230$. IMO the performance you get for paying 110$ more when you buy intel isn't worth it.
I'm not sure where you are going to order those stuff so I'm just going to write down what I'd recommend.
Asus DRW-24B3ST/BLK/G/AS 24x DVD+/-RW
Arctic Cooling Arctic Freezer 13 PRO or Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Asus M4A79XTD EVO AMD 790X Socket AM3 ATX
Case can be what you want but Antec Three Hundred ATX is good and cheap
Seagate SV35.5 1TB SATA2 3.5" 7200RPM 32MB
Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz
Sapphire Radeon HD6850 1GB GDDR5
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz, but you can OC to 3.8ghz or more
Corsair CX600W V2 CX-sarjan 600 W ATX
It should be ~700€, and you are going to be abble to max CF and get 200+ fps. Also you can play Skyrim, but dunno bout setting tought. Also not sure bout nba 2k12 because never played it and also I heard that GTA IV is f*cked up with computer.
I'm not pro with computers but I think it should be pretty good.
EDIT: Everything would cost ~680€ in Finland, so probably if you live in US you can get it with 650$ since Finland is pretty damn expensive country.
