mods?

so i was looking at a friend of mines crossfire and i noticed that his HS symbol and his gun look WAY cooler then the "default" symbol and when i asked him he said it was a mod that he can only see, which is true his m4a1 still looked like a m4a1 on my screen, but on his screen it looked like a zebra gun =P are these legal or illigal? like the HS symbol is kinda boring would be cool if u could change that too
just tell me if it is legal or illigal (by illigal i mean u can get banned) also i dont want a response that i would get from my mother or father, its a legit question are they allowed if they dont affect anyone elses gameplay? -_-.

Kill marks? You can change those easily and without repercussions. Making your gun look different...That's in the .rez files, I think. You cannot do that without being faced with potential repercussions.

When you get a headshot and you see the white headshot at the bottom of the screen, that can be changed/modded/legal. Changing the skin of a gun is illegal, for example modding an m4a1 to blue tiger ILLEGAL.

ohh okay, i didnt know that, do i need files to change that? or are they already preloaded?

The m4a1 zebra colors are illegal but the killmarks are legal.
