Just making the thread in advance.
Well it is finally over ladies and gentlemen! WCG 2011 finished with a bang and what a bang it was!
It all started though with a bit of controversy. The WCG qualifiers were riddled with accusations of cheating and unfairplay, but in the end two teams came from the North America version of Crossfire. fg.HAMMERTIME and vVv Lifeline.
Each team is quite well known in their own right. Especially vVv Lifeline who attended last years World E-Sports Masters event, which unfortunately ended in a swift defeat and a hard crush to the NA dream of taking an international event. However a second chance was given when the WCG 2011 was announced and Lifeline pounced on it to take revenge on LAN for their previous humiliating defeat.
HAMMERTIME though not known for international events became known instead for being simply amazing. HAMMERTIME is a team with a roster of talented, and experienced players. 15oL is often commended as the best sniper in the NA version of crossfire, and let's not forget Mav *flexes* who is quite talented not only at Crossfire, but at Counter-Strike also. Among the other players were Handsome Brando (lol) ubad and MonSTAR. All of whom are amazing skilled in their own right.
And with those two teams selected they were OFF to WCG 2011 in Busan.
Upon arrival there was a bit of a mixup with the schedule, with Group A (which included vVv Lifeline), Group A played what seemed according to the WCG schedule a day earlier than they were supposed to. However in the end Lifeline came out in 2nd place in their group along with China advancing them to the next stage.
Group B was played by HAMMERTIME and ruLegends (a team that was formerly from the NA version of CF).
Group B was easily swept by HAMMERTIME and ruLegends taking them to the second stage.
At that point we were down to the Final 4. Hammertime vs. ruLegends and vVv Lifeline vs. Dragon AB. Hammertime however defeated ruLegends, with ruLegends only providing a slight challenge to the dominating American team. Lifeline struggled a bit in their own match, but quickly overcame the Chinese and took revenge for the tie they had with Dragon AB in the group matches.
Down to two teams, both from the North American version of Crossfire, both teams considered to be the underdogs of the tournament, showed us that the North Americans have absolutely stellar performance, and that maybe the other teams internationally aren't as great as we had all assumed.
However before we get to what will in North America be a legendary matchup I'd like to give an honorable mention to ruLegends who took 4th place losing to China in the losers bracket.
ruLegends was one of the most underrated teams in this tournament and yet they made it into the final 4. I give them a round of applause for their outstanding performance.
The final match. The anticipation. The player's hearts racing. This is it, this is what it all comes down to. The final match of WCG 2011 Crossfire between vVv Lifeline and fg.HAMMERTIME.
Both teams poured their hearts into playing, they went at it with all the effort they could muster and in the end one team stood above all the rest and held the WCG 2011 Champion's cup.
And it was Team fg.HAMMERTIME.
The final results were.
First place - fg.HAMMERTIME
Second place - Dragon AB
Third place - vVv.Lifeline
Fourth place - ruLegends
And with that ladies and gentlemen we conclude the WCG 2011 World Finals.

I never once said Lifeline would get destroyed you imbecile.

We'll see.
Your little "recap" has more truth to it than you think!
Hammertime advances to the semi's as of writing this post.
There is still one match to be played which will determine the seeds. But it looks like Hammertime should be a lock for the semi's as well as LifeLine. -

Yeah, I've been keeping track of the matches.
I already knew they would be going to Semi's.
The real question is whether or not they beat out the team in semi's to go finals. I'm betting hammer will. They are on fire, although lifeline is good they will have a bit of a struggle I think.
Either way this is huge exposure for our version of crossfire.
#underdogs. -
