Ping/Lag Issue
hey guys,
sinse forever in west coast server my ping was a steady 190-200 ping. Playing fine everything. since about two weeks ago my ping has gone up to about 220-230. I know a few other people with ping issues going up by around 20-30. My ping in Alpha server and other servers is always 270. hasnt changed. So its only the west coast server im having the problem with, which is where i usually play. So umm, other people with this problem? ...
EDIT: Dont call me a lagger.

make sure none of your extra programs are running in the background such as going to ctrl + alt + delete , click processes , and make sure itunes , limewire ,any programs , etc .. isnt running and also in game turn your graphics down to low and 16 bit and dont use special effects this will all lower your ping and raise your fps :]

daniel8u i have the exactly the same problem. oh wait i was the one that told u lol. anyway it must be a west coast server problem as my ping is normal is alpha but stuffed up in west coast. so yeh maybe z8games could do something for once? may be a patch?

Same here. My ping usually was ~170, and now its over 270, and game has "spike lags". It happened to me and my brother, but our friend (living in the same town, same net provider and speed) has normal ping (170, like me before). And server doesnt matter, i have lags on alpha bravo and beta as well

You have to understand how ping works. It's simply a measure of how long it takes a packet to get to the server and send a reply back that the transmission was successful. It is highly unlikely that anything on your computer will have an affect on ping. Variations in ping time are caused by the amount of routers that your packet has to pass through before it reaches the server. If there are any poor connections on the backbone then your ping time will suffer. In addition, each packet has a Time To Live associated with it. If the packet fails to reach the server within the number of "hops" specified by the TTL the packet will be discarded and needs to be retransmitted by your computer.
In short: unfortunately there is not a lot you can do to improve your ping. -

*stares stupidly at the screen* You're kidding right?
There is absolutely nothing we can do?! Nothing to fix this issue? Isn't it suppose to be like a server being overloaded?
If this is true then....*jumps off the window and breaks his leg* -

okay that whole thing went, kinda in one ear and straight out the other, besides the last sentence.
I just found it weird, that my ping was raised by 20 after the last patch, along with 5-10 other people in know, and i hadn't made any changed to my pc, so i was just confused. Thanks for help.. i guess.
