  • it looks like ur running off of an on-board video card. what slots do you have ... PCI.. PCI Express.. PCI express x16 i will look for a very cheap video card taht would improve your comp.

after reading this i googled his system,he has 1 x16 pcie and 1 1x pcie
however loading times wont matter for the video card as not much data is processed during the loading for the vid card.when u launch the game or load a match the loading is the CPU,RAM,HDD working.

    So,whats ur ram speed?and ur HDD speed?plus a 2.2ghz A64 isn't that great.and i have a 4yo system

Just wondering how do i check the speed of ram?
  • Loading CF might just be because you have an older hard drive...when it says 'loading resource files' that takes a while on my old desktop but on my laptop (wayy faster hard drive)....it goes 30% per second lol.

I bought this computer in december of 2006 is that old?
  • In computer terms it's ancient, but by no means too weak for crossfire. I would recommend defragmenting your hard drive. Right-click on My Computer and select manage. Look for disk defragmenter on the left. It might take a while, especially if you've never done it before. You should also google "Page defrag". It's a utility from Microsoft that will defrag your virtual memory.
  • Wow ancient? Well i got CF working now i can login and stuff played a few games.

    Thanks for your sugesstions.
  • AHH!!! Its happening again checking resource files is taking forever!

Defrag again to make sure, also make sure like Greycloak said that ur PageFile isnt fragmented, also make sure ur PF is only 1.5 times more than ur ram and make sure its a static number to prevent 99% of future fragmentation.
  • You may want to check the SMART status of your HDD (It should have that function, google it if you do not know what it is). Your HDD is the main performance related issue. Also turn off all background tasks possible (I presume you already do). You have more then enough memory to load the game and processing power to run the game.
If your HDD is a 5400RPM then the speeds your getting are a bit more understandable. If it is 7200RPM and above shouldn't have major loading speed issues, however.
Your memory type is probably DDR2, probably 533 or 667. It may even be very slow 266Mhz memory I've seen your kind of system before. If so, it may be the memory being the slowest factor in all of this.
If your videocard is integrated then it sucks, but that is unrelated to your issue.
You should also run a virus scan (I'd useMalwarebyte's Anti-Malware software, it's free and you can download it at cnet.com) just to make sure it isn't a virus or otherwise taking up system resources.
    Grimmjow: Cool name. :D

  • LoL.. If you were a differnt type I could help.. Guess not.. Sorry </3
  • I'd like to note that it takes a long time for me even to load (around 10-20 seconds), though I have two Hitachi 160Gb's in Raid 0 running Crossfire and 4Gb of DDR2 912Mhz memory running on an E6600 @ 3.4Ghz (Vista Business 32-Bit/680i A2 revision).;)
I have even reinstalled it to my Western Digital 1Tb's Raid 0 array to see if it performs faster, and it does by about 5-9 seconds, so performance does seem to be HDD heavy (I'm keeping it on my other Raid 0 partition though because this one is for Window's 7). However, nGameguard has to also start up along with CF along with multiple other processes, so the wait time should be somewhat expected.
