One of you guys that have that problem, try formating your pc if u got the time. That will help the GM know it it comes from a registry problem, server problem or game problem. By formatting, you eliminate the chance that the problem is coming from your side.
I am not saying that everyone should format but if only a couple of yous do it, we could pinpoint the problem easier. -

Guys it's a quick fix if you have anti virus programs downloaded.
For mcafee users :
Delete mcafee completely, download AVG free, it's better and easier. After you did that follow the directions below.
For AVG free users:
Open it, click tools, advanced > go down till you see direct shield > find exceptions under that > go to add path > Find your crossfire folder > Next find your game guard folder, click it, apply it and click ok. After that it should be fixed. *note* This only applys to the people having the ( connecting to server please wait) when joining rooms, and if you have these anti virus programs. -
They don't have to, those are just the only options i know of, and the anti virus programs i am aware of. But i fixed both of my computers, and a few of my friends computers so far, so i'm pretty sure it will solve the problem for everyone that follows.

Can anyone confirm that this works? -

I noticed that you are noticing that everyone has windows xp service pack 3. Pretty much 90% of people that don't have vista use this, so i'm pretty sure that this isn't it. My friend has windows xp service pack 3 and he is playing. -

im using vista -
I think the disconnects are a problem on CrossFire's end.
I am having the problem where the "Connecting to channel" box pops up with the OK button, even though I am connected to the channel. And after I click OK the game closes.
Here are my specs:
Gateway 7426GX Laptop
Mobile AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ 2.41 Ghz
1 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Graphics Card
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3
and I agree that the problem started a few days ago because I've been playing just fine for months. -
this is useless
Listen
If I try to make a new room or Get invited theres a 50% chance of it workin for me. I can then play. If i log off i have to do this again but it wont always work.
I HAVE HAD A FRIEND LOG ON MY COMPUTER AND JOIN ANY GAME.
I have try to log on to his computer and it wont connect.
so i know that its not my computer it has to do with something reading my player?
Telling system info will not help becaues i have played all day and now i cant.
not my computer.
