  • Don't come to the conclusion that he wants these for gaming. In fact, he stated that they weren't intended for any gaming.

He stated that he wanted them for music. Still any headset that's 60$+ will have an obvious quality difference, it's not hard to pick one out.

Actually, no, not really. $60+ headsets aren't a lot better, but headphones on the other hand are noticeable. Gaming gear isn't good, period.

I'm going to get these or these for when I'm mixing. I haven't decided yet though.

    both have sweet quality.
  • Where did recording artists come from? This is a gaming forum, no one here works at a recording studio.

    I got mine for producing.

I don't think snipes realizes that people have other hobbies than gaming.

There is more to life than gaming, Snipes. Not everyone on this forum thinks about it 24/7, except for dot.
Actually I have a terrible cold so thats mostly on my mind right now.
Not to mention I barely play this game outside the occasional leisure and ESL.

  • I'm keeping these SHURE I ****ing love it for movies and ****, and they don't leak much so I can blast outside...I'll buy the sonys next month (heard about em before just wasn't sure) I hope the bass dosen't overpower the actual music

if the settings on your music player/amp/etc aren't right you might experience some bass overpowering the music, so be careful with the sony's =o
  • sennheiser hd 650 or hd 800.

but please do not plug them into your pc or mp3 player. they get bored.
  • threadjack: I'm looking at the AKG K142 HD, anyone have any experience with AKG in general or the K142 specifically?

They have a plastic feel from what I remember...they leak alot also. Kind of gets uncomfortable after a while. Good (equal) sound quality after being burned in. Hope that helps
  • My AKG broke after one day. Kinda disappointed. I'll go get them replaced tomorrow.

Just bought the SHURE SRH440 for like....116? + I have a headphones amp (I really like em)
    shureheadSM.jpg

I really don't like the bass on em though, should I return them? and if I do which headphones should I get that's good quality and has good bass...huge + if it's in an electronics store so I don't have to order them
    online :/

    EDIT: NOT FOR GAMING.

I have a pair of 440's, they aren't very good for bass however they are really sharp in midtones and fairly accurate. If you decide to keep these you might want to consider the one above with the shaping foam as these get really uncomfortable after awhile. If you record and need playback for acoustics these are amazing though.

Anything Monster has decent sound quality, but their build quality on all their product is pants.

Seinheisser is a really good bet for a good set as well.

Headphones are really lackluster though, once you get a really nice set of speakers you'll notice such a big difference, I haven't used my 440's in awhile.

Have a pair of KRK5 Studio speakers for editing at home.

take my advice with a grain of salt, as everyone has different opinions about audio and it has a lot to do with your personal palette.

Took 10 minutes to get them replaced. I'm glad I didn't buy them on the internet.

Yeah, the SRH440's lack some bass compared with the other headphones in the market, altough in my opinion they have a good balance to have an overall good experience with any kind of music. You can't compare these with the sony's MDR-XB series, wich feature big and powerful 50mm magnets along with a very ample space to the sound to reach the ear, making it sound less compressed compared to the other more compact headphones.

But yeh, headphones are for kind of noisy environments or locals that cannot have sound leakage, they will never compare to full size good qualityspeakers+subwoofers in both power and sound quality.
I myself prefer the headphones because i'm always moving thorugh places and such, so i like the mobility of those, and i don't really have a shapr ear to discriminate HP's by the small sound quality differences in between the 100'ish dollar headphones.
Sooo... i'd recommend you a cheaper pair for everyday beating on the streets like the skullcandies or the steelseries siberia series, but for home i like the MDR-XB700 to listen to bass oriented songs, like dubstep or electronicish songs, for rock overall, i like to use the (recently stolen from my friend) HD 380 pro's (sennheiser), they feel good and aren't really bass heavy, so i can appreciate the songs without worrying about overlaps .--.

I'm gonna go grab the xb700s tomorrow, btw the 440's bass improved after being burned in, still not good enough for my liking.

you're gonna love these for hip hop, electronic or jaz, but you're going to hate them for punk rock and maybe prog rock, the bass unbalances the entire song, and that makes it strangely unconfortable to hear :x
    IMO

But yeh, i like the DH 380 pro's, maybe i'll buy them, maybe i will keep those that my friend "lend" me xD
