Rifles and SMGs:
SCAR Light is really nice with fast reload, above average power, and lower recoil.
K-2 looks bad but is suprisingly good.
AUG is best for headshots.
SG552 is best for rushing.
MP5 is best if you're one of those guys who spray and pray.

MP7 sucks. Don't use it.
GALIL is okay. Not the best recoil but good if you're a headshot pro.
SCAR Heavy is okay but reload is annoying.
G36K is fine with close range but high recoil and horrible long distance accuracy make it an average gun.
Type-89 is fine, like your good old average rifle.
AWM is really good. But it's a sniper, so who cares?
XM8 is really nice compared to its predecessor, the M16.
K1A is incredibly accurate for an SMG.
Pistols:
M9 is okay but since the GLOCK patch it sucks. Don't you DARE buy it.
Colt is okay, but P228 is about the same stats with more ammo.
Desert Eagle is my #1 recommended pistol.
Anaconda is okay, seeming like it has a silencer. It's downside is its accuracy and rate of fire.
Yes, once again I will say that I've gone off topic. But here are my recommendations:
SCAR Light, XM8, Steyr, or K-2
Desert Eagle
Rather use this as a guide, not something that you must do. Better you get a feel for your own guns. -
I sold my deagle for P228 cuase P228 is a HS magnetRifles and SMGs:

type sucks at reloading. it isn t better than m4 i think. go for m4 or ak-47. don t go for S.light:it doesn t need any skill to own with. or just wait until a new weapon comes out in a next patch. -
