Blank Message Box at crossfire startup

When I try to start crossfire, it pops up a blank message box. I click OK, and nothing happens. I have been playing crossfire for months and this has not happened before. Now it happens every time I try to play. How can I fix this?

It happens b/c you try to run CF when GG is already running. Check if the GG icon is on the toolbar.

+ there isnt any process like gameguard.exe or anything ending with .des

Close all Crossfire processes in the Task Manager. (Crossfire.exe, CF_Patcher.exe, gameguard.des and gameguard.mon)
After that, wait 5 Minutes and try it again.
If it doesnt work, delete your Gameguard folder in your Crossfire directory ( C:/Programs/Z8Games/Crossfire/Gameguard). The missing files should be automatically be repatched, the next time you'll start your Crossfire.
If it doesnt work, uninstall your Game and download it again from the Mirrors or Alternative Download Mirrors on the Website.

Ensure, that the above named files got full access through your Firewall and turn your Antivirus program off for the Installation.
If you got Windows Vista / Windows 7, run the Setup and Gamestart later as Administrator.

I have windows XP (with an Administrator account)

There is no GameGuard icon in the taskbar.
There are no GameGuard or crossfire processes in taskmanager.
I have tried deleting the GameGuard folder and restarting the game.

The blank box still appears every time. I will try reinstalling the game. Are there any other suggestions on how to fix this?
