looks like ul need to reinstall XP as that error has to do with the OS aka Operating System
here's a linky with other ppl with that problem and what others say http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/unmountablebootvolume-error-plea/134376.html
Agreed.
Reinstall your Operating System.
I'd suggest, you'd format your harddrive before that, otherwise the error might still be existing.
If your CD Rom drive is broken too, install Windows over USB. -

try that, if the test gives a error, your ram is damaged or something.
I had same problem, was getting blue screen all the time, not same error message tho. Reason why I am getting blue screen is because my ram is damaged, found it out few days ago and im now getting new ram. -

granted he has a usb drive/flash stick lol -
first.. unmountable boot volume is telling u there is no Os on the harddrive...
HOWever..... this would typically be on the black dos/command prompt screen right after going thru the P.O.S.T check..
the fact that it is on a blue screen concerns me...
Does it give u the windows "splash" screen before this error? (the xp logo with little status bar moving left to right)
if it does, it is prob your hard drive. ether it has gone Kaput, or it has written information on
a non existent sector on the hard drive. and when it trys to access it during the boot process, well, u know the rest.
check your ide or sata cable to make sure it is pluged in,
check the harddrive power cable to make sure it is plugged in.
Check in BIOS to see if it recognizes your hard drive.
if all that checks out, reinstall windows. make sure to set in bios to check cd/dvd rom drive as a bootable device BEFORE the harddrive.
put your windows disk in, follow instructions. when it ask if u want to reformat,, say yes.
IT COULD be a ram error, tho with the wording of the error i would say no, HOWEVER harddrive and ram issues often give "odd" error problems. -
