Budget graphics card
Wasn't sure where to put this, but since a lot of people who play competitively have good rigs, I decided to try here.
I'm looking for a cheaper card, 100-. I've been looking at the radeon hd 5570, anybody have this before or know how it performs? Any other recommendations is appreciated.
I know I can just google this, I already have. I would just like to know the community's thoughts on a budget graphics card.

dont worry about putting it anywheres if its in the competitive section theres a 50% chance iceman will think there is something wrong and will close it. sorry iceman people dont wanna ask question to a bunch of random 10 year olds in off topic and that they would rather have their questions answered here.

I run a 5770 manage to run all games in Eyefinity with it and maintain 30fps (3840x1024). So doubt you will be running the Resolutions i do but i know it has handled everything ive thrown at it. Only game that made my card studder so far maxed out was Mafia 2 and Crysis.

why save money? put in the extra couple bucks and get the best.
i use 2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
with a 16GB DDR3 RAM
i get 250 fps in any game mode. its actually a bit higher, but the game wont recognize it anyways. -

Yeah I've heard great things about the 5770, but it's quite a bit more. Can you or anybody else explain what Eyefinity is? I've seen it thrown around a few places. -

CF is a joke. My old emachines ran it no problem. -

Since i started using Eyefinity a single screen just isn't even fun or reasonable anymore. -

16gbs of ram, LOL'd.
Anything that's ati is usually good for a budget gamer, for 2 reasons, they are cheap for the bang and you most likely won't have to upgrade your PSU. nVidia cards tend to use more power than ati, 5550 and 5570 are excellent cards, but for 100 dollars you can get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121442
but also a little more power is needed to run it
also give us your specs, because some card upgrades might just be pointless if you are bottle necking your entire system.
5570 is your best option atm -

well, its a good thing i got lots of money.
and CF is MAXed out around 250 ... if it showed exactly how much FPS i was getting i would be somthing like 500 ... but your eye cant see that fast anyways.
but this is more for other high graphic gaming. but i was referring too CF at the moment.

well i mgiht not need it, but it feels good too have
plus, money isnt an issue for me -
CrackinDomes wrote: »Can't disagree with ya. Really the 6990 only beat nVidias best by couple FPS in benchmarks.
All comes down to what money ya wanna spend and personal preference.
yup, i read up on the both of them before buying. PC magazene has some good articles on them... basicly its like buying Nike or Addidas .... both of them are name brand and will get the job done. -

Awesome, thanks for the feedback guys. Anymore advice/input from anyone is welcome.
if you want good for cheap dont get the ones we mentioned .... there better, but there also the most expensive. not too sure about good quality ones. -

Yeah, but I'll keep those in mind for the future. Either going to go with the 5570 or put in a bit more for the 5770

I would like to get the radeon 5570 also(or an equivalent).But i have only 300watt standard power supply computer(Acer Aspire E500 2GB ram,intel pentium 2x3.40ghz processors,radeon e1950 graphics card).
I only get around 30-40fps on 800x600 on crossfire 8v8.
But i see the power requirements on the 5570 are 400watt recommended. Its not worth buying a new power supply on my dated computer. Eventually would like to get a new one. Would it be dangerous to run the 5570 on my computer or better still is there another alternate graphics card that requires only 300watt compatible that would get my fps upto say 80/100 in the 60-90euro mark. -

It does seem like it should be able to run on 300w.
But does anyone have any views on the 5450.The power Consumption seem pretty low but i don't know about the improvement i would get from this card.At the moment around 30/40 in 8v8 i was hoping even if i could to it to a steady 60fps i would be happy. -

CF won't really benefit that much from a GPU upgrade.
You'd benefit a lot more from a CPU upgrade. -

i have a 5450 with 1 gb of ram, 3.0ghz pentium D, i get 80-120 in 5 v 5's and 70-80 in 8's, 40-50 in LoL 30 in team fights, 60 in source. only reason i didn't get a 5550 or 5570 is becuase the 5450 was 15 dollars and was too good to pass up. I would have been better off with them but i didn't feel dropping 50 on an old rig.
