HALP

I have growled material, I converted it into avi and when im done with everything I render it in sony vegas and all I see is black screen. help.

LOL. I didnt say it was best.

I 'implied' it works better with that question.

um do u have the codec for playing .Avi videos?if u don't it can cause u to have a black screen when playing it,u can get good codecs + others for many formats here. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

I do have the codec, its black screen only after rendering.

mind you not only would u need a codec to view avi files itself u will also need the codec used to encode it aswell..what codec did u use to encode it?u will need a decoder codec too..like for example if i use a uncompressed video i edit it then i have to encode like with mpeg,h264/3,xvid,divx etc and ul need their decoder to view em.

Avi is the container

Try redownloading a different version of vegas, then import the media into that and rendering.

I'm not sure what else to try.

I also favour .wmv file formats.

you see,i dont know much about growler lol,i use Fraps i record at 70~100 FPS uncompressed .Avi then i edit it in ulead MediaStudio pro 8 then i save or "render" as u call it with a codec like mpeg4,h264,xvid etc

I had same problem..this did work for me:

Choose all your video files (you know, click on one and then shift and go to the last one. And don’t forget the videos on other tracks either!) and then right-click on them and choose switches and then disable resample.

I just got a different version of sony vegas and it worked. But thanks mate.

i had this, i believe its down to your video card not being able to handle the amount of data or something. happened to me when i added to many effects to certain clips
