You clearly missed alot huh?
Dogs have been replaced (as well as eaten by) our flying sharks. The guy watching over the dogs was therefor no longer needed and fed to the same sharks. I'm sure Mem can tell you the details if you want. -

How about I give you one of the baby flying sharks that are bound to be created soon? You can tell it it's actually a unicorn/dragon. It can already fly....just paint it or paste a horn on its head. -
