how big a role do luck skill and intel play in cf?
I've been thinking about this alot lately. In general, how big a role do you think luck skill and intelligence play in crossfire?
luck: anything that you as a player cannot control
skill: anything that you as a player can control
intellegence: information about the maps, tactics ect.
personally I think roughed down it would be something like 40% luck 30% skill 30% intel.

You can't put values on them, they all play a role. -
70% Intelligence, the ability to read the other team and predict their movement so you're aiming the right way.
25% Skill, you need to be able to hit the target, throw grenades, and double jump.
5% Luck, when you do everything right luck should hardly be a factor. But recoil is unpredictable sometimes and...

90% intelligence
5% luck
5% skill
I dont think much skill is needed in CF, its rated as the easiest mmofps out there and I can see why. Join a random game on CSS and the bottom fragger will usually have a score like 2/9 or something stupid. Join a random game on CF and the bottom fragger will usually have around 6/9. -

Keep in mind most everything humans do has a pattern to it so that means theres probably going to be a pattern in your opponents movments which should take care of the most part of luck. then all thats left is based on you (which is why the numbers would never be the same between players)
IDK, maybe your right, but hey, can't stop a man from trying.that song.70% Intelligence, the ability to read the other team and predict their movement so you're aiming the right way.

I know i left out skill, intel, and luck but this is way better.
uck im going to make an avatar, can't stand that empy space under my name anymore >.<
anyways I like were this thread is going, good answers. -
yeah, I can see how intellegence can play a bigger rule then I thought, unless your playing against unpredictable people (is that even possible?) intellegence would play a lot more larger rule then the other two.
Yeah, very possible considering that a lot of these kids don't understand how competitive play is supposed to work and will do outrageous things that make no sense what so ever. -
70% Inteligence (This is the difference between a highly skilled player to the rest, predicting your enemy, knowing the angles, the common strategie etc.)
15% Hardware/Ping (Having a good hardware like a good graphics card and good headphones is a must. You can track your enemies by the sound if the headphones are stereo, even a gun switch can give you away. Ping also makes a difference. This is why the only way you can see peoples skill is on a LAN with the same hardware.)
10% Skill (Some people are just better. This usually comes with practice)
5% Luck -
This is my favorite kind of thread ^^
At first I thought that by "intel" he meant "recon," but after I thought about it it's almost the same thing, intelligence being how well you make decisions based on the info you gather from your surroundings, the radar, teammates, etc.
I was thinking about this recently as well, except I put into these terms:
1.Basic Skills; skillset, basic things like reloading, defusing, crouch jumping, bunny-hopping, etc.
2.Raw Unadulterated Skill; reflexes, ability to hit a target at range, skill with knife or frags
3.Map-Related Skill & Knowledge
-being able to make specific shots (practice)
-knowing what can be shot through and what can't
-ability to move around the map at speed and/or undetected, setting up ambushes
-sense of timing; having a good idea of where the enemy is based on where they aren't
-sense of visibility; knowing how visible you are at whatever position from any angle (useful for 1st and 3rd bullets as well)
4.Craftiness/Adaptability (intelligence)
-being able to change tactics based on what has/hasn't worked or on the enemy's profile, and making decisions quickly
-general deviousness; taking advantage of the fact that the enemy is trying to do the same and misleading them
I can't put percentages to them because depending on how good you are naturally in any given category, the others may be more or less necessary. Luck should never factor into the equation, although how often a person depends on luck should... I'd put it under #4
