New Forum Changes
Hello CF Community!
As you might have noticed we've made some changes to the forums.
As we fix up a few things, namely the stickies for each forum I'll explain the major changes. Nevermind the large amount of stickies in the Barracks at the moment.
First off. You may notice the Maps and Weapons/Gear forums are gone.
There was a forum added to the Announcement Section, which will contain archives of past patch notes for you to easily browse.
Additionally we've created an entire forum for Competitive Discussion. This area also houses 2 subforums for WOGL and ESL.
We've also made the Clan Section a little more refined. Showing that if you are looking for a clan then you can head to the right place to see who's recruiting!
Lastly, old closed threads in the Barracks section (1 year+) have been removed. So if you noticed a drop in your post count this is why!
These forums should be easier to moderate and a little more focused so that we can get the right posts in the right sections. And this is only just a small part of what we're doing in 2011 to upgrade the community and bring more things for you!

First off. You may notice the Maps and Weapons/Gear forums are gone.
Most of these forums contained threads about favorite guns or maps and were generally populated with threads of a general nature, and threads that completely didn't belong in that section.
This new layout means ALL threads relating to Cross Fire in some way can be discussed in the Barracks. This might mean a little more congestion, but it's a lot easier to moderate.
Secondly we've moved the Suggestion forum to a subsection of the Barracks.
This can make it easier to go to for one-stop suggestions. And it's all contained within the CF Section. We'll be making some updates to the FAQ's and Stickies in this section to get everyone updated on what kinds of things we might be looking for in a suggestion.
We've also added descriptions to each of the sections to better direct the new people. There was a forum added to the Announcement Section, which will contain archives of past patch notes for you to easily browse.

We are looking in to upgrading to the next level of VB. While we don't have an immediate timeline for this, it should help with some of the "visual layout" stuff. As VB4 tends to be a bit bigger, bubblier and more ipod-ish.
If the Descriptions don't help and make things look more cluttered we may take them down.
And if the Barracks becomes a problem then we might sub-forum a new section for strategy (ie guns and maps).
The problem with the old layout was simply too many posts in random sections. A post about a map could be somehow contained in the barracks, guides, maps or even weapons section of the forums.
It makes for a hard job to moderate this kind of stuff.
We'll monitor it and see how it turns out in the long run. We can always make changes. But consolidating forums is always going to be a higher "goal" of the forums.
More forums = less relevant posts. -

But now you have the descriptions underneith the sections. It could've helped with the Weapons and Gear/Maps sections. -

Good to hear your actually looking into a new re-code. I know from our discussions in the past with some issues along the line of user groups, and general structure there were issues. So good to hear there will HOPEFULLY a more simplistic solution coming your way. -
What about a general "Announcement" sub forum for only Admins/MOD's and that we can see, but not post anything.
Never mind.. Just saw the Z8games announcement thing xD.. I'm such a fool..
And good job anyways... Could a MOD delete my previous post pls? -
