Help with computer...
FYI i am not a computer tech. Okk so i reinstalled Windows xp on my comp, it had some wicked ass error, idk i was gone for the week, come back and it wont even start without crashing so eh. Reinstalled XP...and for some amazing reason ,my computer wont even recognize my speakers. Big surprise. Need to install a sound driver. Counldnt find it on the Gateway site. Apparantly my computer, being made in...2003 if im thinking right, isn't cool enough for Gateway to continue to keep links to download drivers for. Heck i couldnt even find out what model this thing is. If som1 could walk me through this crap it would be greatly appreciated and there is 80 karma at stake. (if we somehow go back to suba...) I'll work with whatever you suggest to the best of my ability.

o.o dude, im having like, the same problem, i wiped out my computer, reinstalled xp, and i dont have my speakers.
can you run CF? if not, you might just be in the room next to me, or using the same computer for that matter, because my issue is the exact same lol. -

but for starters goto your device manager and tell me what all the yellow flags you got, im curious if you got the same 2 or 3 like eulogy had -

Mmm checked and the only flag i got is a PCI device under 'Other devices'. I'm only going to assume those are my speakers lol.... -
yup all u got to do is reinstall that driver and it will fix your speakers
Lol i figured that out. I went to the gateway site, (thats the make of my crappy comp) put in my serial number and i couldn't get anything to pop up for me to dl.

Thats the thing man. Cant find this computer on the gateway site, and the computer doesnt even detect the soundcard so i cant figure out what it is i heard there is a program that does such a thing...? Everest or something. -

Lol im helpless with this kind of ****... any chance you could point me to where im supposed to look under on Everest to find the sound card? -
download and use a software called 'DriverMax' it will detect all ur hardware and suggest a link to the latest driver for that hardware.....download it from download.com
LOL. Man this program is legittttt. Thanks i'm checking out the downloads it suggests.
