Made primarily for XBox 360, but still a good headset for PC gaming.
ya i looked into that one.
so far i'm thinking between the following choices(may buy new from users/used):
http://www.amazon.com/Force-Amplified-Stereo-Headset-Chat-Mac/dp/B003A7HHKG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1301794302&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Tritton-TRIAX-180-Universal-Headset-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002P77432/ref=sr_1_9?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1301794374&sr=1-9 -

I used to have them. My ears were itchy as **** for a week because I used this headset.
ya i also have this in my cart. uh so many choices -
Here's the best Value/performance: You can pay a bit more(40$) to get audio technica ATH-AD700(90$):http://www.jr.com/product/productListing.jsp?Ntt=AD700.
Most pro CS players will agree with me that this is the best gaming headphone under 300$(no joke). Just search AD700 gaming on google, people praise these headphones for gaming. I suggest u go over to head-fi.org: http://www.head-fi.org/ if want to know more about real audio.
Ive previouslly tried a alot of "gaming" oriented headsets such as 5hv2, Siberia, carcharius, X1, A40 and I can tell you that you can't fall for products from SS or Razer, stick with real experienced Audio manafactuerers like sennheiser and Audio technica and Beyerdynamic and not companies like SS and Razer that are MOUSEPAD COMPANIES.
The headphones I suggested you don't come wih a mic, but you can easily buy a clip on one like the zalman zm-mic1 for like 7 bucks so everything comes down to 100$ ish. This setup wil beat almost anything on the market for under 300$(except maybe beyerdynamic DT880s)
If that is too expensive for you and all you really want is decent sound and you could give a rats ass about soundstage, directionality and overall advantage. I suggest you check out Sennheiser gaming oriented pro headsets. There are literally tons of options:http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/groupe/en/158/1 .
Coming as a part time DJ(fun/hobby/time waster) and as a real hard audiophile (I own Westone 3s and HD650s), you should realise that I know my stuff
EDIT: you think I should make a headphone/headsets guide for gaming? -

i know you know your stuff :P but i've used the same $20 headset for 3-4 years. some kind of logitech headset... and i was fine with it. but the mic part is loose on them now so i used tape lol. ya... that's mainly why i want a new headset but not too much of an upgrade. i think i've searched enough. i'll make my decision soon
thanks for the insight people
