How to make your own ventrilo server.
IF YOU MESS YOUR COMPUTER DOING THIS.. I CANT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE
- Must have a 32 bit OS
- Have little computer knowledge
How is this free?
Flagship Industries, Inc. Made a Free ventrilo server for people.
The thing is, you have to leave your computer on for the server to be up..and there are only 8 slot's meaning only 8 people can be on your ventrilo at once.
How to setup the server
Step 1. Downloading the files.
Ventrilo Server : http://www.ventrilo.com/dlprod.php?id=101 ( Windows i386 - 32bit (Version 3.0.3) To my understanding this will only work on window's XP.
Ventrilo Client : http://www.ventrilo.com/dlprod.php?id=1 Run's on every system.
Step 2. After Downloading the files install them.
Step 3. Look for the folder called VentSrv ( Start>All Programs>VentSrv )
Step 4. Click Edit INI File
-Phonetic is what the Person will hear when he joined the server.
-Auth has 3 different Modes:
When Auth = 0, anyone can join your sever with out a password.
When Auth = 1, everyone needs a password to join your server.
When Auth = 2, eveyone has a specific user/password to join.
-Duplicates has 2 Modes:
When Duplicates = 0, Duplicates are disabled.
When Duplicates = 1, Duplicates are allowed.
-Admin Password, this is what you use to Login into the "ADMIN STATUS" this is not the password you use to join the server, you will make you own password in "USER EDITOR" after.
-Password you will need Auth = 1, in order to use this, after setting this everyone use this password to join your channel.
-Everything under can be ignored.
Save everything and exit notepad.
Step 5. You now need to port forward. To do this you'll need to know your default gateway, And your Wan IP.
Step 6. How to get The Default Gatway. Go to Start>Run> and type cmd
Step 7. In cmd type in ipconfig
Step 8. You should come up with this
Type Your Default gateway in your internet browser.
Step 9. Login to your router and Look for the Port Forwarding option. Once you found it Copy the The exactly what's forwarded there.
Remember How we found out what your default gateway was Use the same steps to find your router ip and use that ip for forwarding
Step 10. Now You Need to create a host. Sign up here http://www.no-ip.com/newUser.php
Step 11. After signing up, login.. You'll be at a page Saying Manage host, Add host etc.. Click Add Host.
Click Add Host.
Step 12. Im limited to 5 image's for a thread So now i will continue this tutorial without images
..
It's Really simple just Choose a name for your domain and click Create Host when your done.
Step 13. YOUR DONE. To turn your server on Go to Start>All programs> Ventsrv > and click Ventrilo Server and you should see a black box And your sever is now up. and when you close that program your server is down.
And, Your server info would be the host you made and this port 3784

Is this legal. LOLOLOLOL, that's like me telling you to uninstall your computer.
There's no point to this. Vent is meant to be a way for voice communication to be processed and delivered in an efficient manner through an outside dedicated computer.
If you're gunna host ventrilo on your own computer, you might aswell use skype or xfire. -

Neat! This reminds me, I made a guide on Ventrilo, TeamSpeak and Mumbo servers for Z8Games Forums two weeks back on Ubuntu Linux VPSs but forgot about it and didn't finish it. Maybe I could wrap it up today?
