Yeah, let's get this stupid mode. Because we won't get it for another 2-3 years and this game won't survive that long. I mean come on now....really?

Well, let's apply this idea to MM. Look how HM totally improved MM and pretty much kicked MM off its popularity list. You could say perhaps that MM will eventually be the example.

Perhaps this "Hardcore Mode" Does not have to be a separate mode. Perhaps a mode that can be changeable like "Knife Only" or "Sniper Only". If that applies, then it'll surely be more popular than MM.
  • Clone BFBC2's Options. No Crosshair. Friendly Fire. Heavier Damage. Would Be Full Of Win. :) But This Game Would Still Blow.
  • people already die fast enough, might as well have said 1 hit kill.
    anyway why not.
  • ^ He always prefers this option in CoD4, so why not?

    +2

I always prefer other people preferring this option in COD4, so why not.

    +OVER 9000!!!!

This game could handle a hardcore mode. No one, If any, uses the Map on the top left on your HUD screen. I'm sure people do pay attention to the amount of bullets on your magazine, but that shouldn't matter too much when most people do reload after they kill someone.

The GUI for the crosshair should be pretty easy to remove if anything. It's either a circle or a couple of lines.
    Eh?
I doubt anyone keeps track of the amount of bullets in their magazine -because- they reload after every kill. Seen so many people go in for a kill and reload in the middle of the fight because they ran out and don't OCD reload on every kill.

As for the minimap, you're clearly not a good player if you don't use it. The minimap gives a bunch of information that you just aren't using to your advantage by ignoring it.

That would be because HM -is- MM, with a perk added to it. There's no reason to play MM when you can play HM and it's the same thing anyways.

My point exactly. It won't do anything to improve the overall game.

  • 1) Use search feature first. It's been suggested many times.

    2) This game wouldn't deal with HC very well. Most of the guns in this game deal 30 damage to the chest. And as the bullets in CoD (where this option mostly comes from) don't actually deal more damage, but the health is reduced instead, making almost every gun a 1-shot kill would be...well, stupid, if you ask me.

    3) Then again, M60 + HC = Epic Scores...

  • Increased bullet damage, no health bar visible, no map. and No chat after your dead. The real way SnD should be played. And no Killmarks.

Only your trusty mouse and keybourd + headphones + gun + sidearm + knife.

    What do you guys think?

Edit: No Mag and Ammo count as well....

Health visible to your own. Damage is same for teammate and opponent. No indicator of alive/death in the player list when the player is still alive. Team talk must create static noise and sound similar to those of the steps, no kill sign, no indicator or site A or site B, no indicator after bomb is planted -- to know if the other side is still in guard, GR has to use radio contact, so as a good team should know when and how to check.

And black list should have less player than GR -- the ratio should be like 2:3.

Not allow any other chat programs, like skype, msn being used in the mode.

The GUI for the crosshair should be pretty easy to remove if anything. It's either a circle or a couple of lines.

Removal of the cross hair will increase the sale of markers. People will make a cross hair on the screen :) physically.

So the idea to remove the cross hair should be changed to add dangling to it when running.

When aiming, the iron crosshair should be brought up, which should be much smaller and stable.

if running, the mode forced to the non-aiming mode, the crosshair swings and jumps.

If walking and aim, add a lower level of movement to the crosshair than running.

When running or jumping, the scope can not be open.

And depend on the worn-off of the gun, the type of the gun, the crosshair center moved on the screen.

This will make it a hardcore mode. In fact, I think cs1.5 has take the swing crosshair before. They have removed it in 1.6.

Close to reality doesn't mean it is fun to play.
  • Interesting idea.

I just wanna say though, cause I wanna put a wise cracked comment (even though it'll be lame) Well here it goes

"If you want it to be that intense, why don't you just go to war, ORRR paintball!"

But seriously intersting idea, ignore my stuipd comment if you don't like it LOL, i just felt like saying it, sorry if it angers anyone that really likes the idea!

    HAHA funny stuff.

You guys get pretty heated over a discussion.... Seriosly, I dont want to call out names, but you know who you are!!

Why not have this type of option? We got Hero mode, which no offense, is a rip off add on to Mutation mode. If anything, Hero mode is something Mutation mode should have been from the beggining.

If they are willing to put money and time into a mode like that, I dont see why they wouldnt try or contemplate to do this...

Also, no crosshairs, that way things such as scopes, are usefull. The once regarded "Noob" and "Waste of Money" of the Scope Galil will be usefull in this mode when aiming down the sights.

For those that are talking about the small maps... Idk, maybe CF will make new maps with bigger domains and more obstacles. Its a possible outcome.
  • Why shouldn't you be allowed to chat after you are dead ?
  • Increased bullet damage, no health bar visible, no map. and No chat after your dead. The real way SnD should be played. And no Killmarks.

Edit: No Mag and Ammo count as well....

    Increased bullet damage ?
----> NO. This is not necessary as a lot of weapons are already able to kill you in 3-5 shots.

    No health bar visible ?
----> No numbers, yes, but put something to indicate health state. You know if you're badly injured or just have some bruises. A color coded indicator. Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red (skip the blue and orange if necessary).

    No map ?
----> Yes. The radar only helps to know the position of alive/dead mates. Not that it isn't very useful but it could be removed for a hardcore mode.

    No chat after death ?
----> Yes, or add a separate chat for dead people only. Could be fun.

    No killmarks ?
----> It would be great if there was already an option to remove them (along with the sounds) without having to remove the files, so Yes.

No Mag and Ammo count ?
----> Yes for the ammo count. As for the numbers of mag left... it can be easy to know how many mags are left. So maybe just the numbers of mag shown.

Overall opinion about adding a Hardcore mode (or option like Sniper Only) ?
Yes, could be interesting, challenging and intense at the cost of a small effort (i.e. some HUD changes).

Downtown is definitely not a big map. You can see an entire half of the map at any given time.

We haven't played the same map then.

Show me screenshots of you, in several Downtown locations (since you say "at any given time"), looking at "an entire half of the map".
Sure, you have several long opened areas but they are narrows and never represents more than 1/7th~1/8th of the entire map.

And we have a big and a small tunnel, two buildings (both spawns) + a smaller one (storage), two "levels" (the BL half being the lower and the GR one being higher) that all adds reduce what you can see at any given time.

Would be cool, no HUD information/help! not even a crosshair!
  • Why shouldn't you be allowed to chat after you are dead ?

    Because your dead?

Im pretty sure if your friend got shot around a corner, and you heard it, he wouldnt come back as a ghost and whisper the locations of the enemy....

    Nuff said.

  • I suppose but I wouldn't be a fan for this.. I like the unrealistic, arcade-like gaming that we have.
  • And what about Skype ?

The game can't do anything about skype/team speak/vent, but he can about the IN GAME chat!

You count your mags and dont spray. Conserve ammo like a REAL battlefield.

HUD - Anything on the screen besides the gameplay.
