Computer reboots at 'checking resource files'

On my second computer crossfire runs fine but then after 1-2 weeks it randomly starts rebooting my PC when it gets to checking resource files between 0-20%. The only way around it is to reformat my pc everytime it happens which is getting kinda annoying having to do it every 1-2 weeks. Tried registry cleaners, virus scanners, gamebooster to shutdown unwanted processes.

Gonna try reinstalling CF now but its unlikely that it will work. Anyone else had this problem or have any idea what could be causing it?

  • This same issue has occurred man times on my laptop what I did was Defragged the game itself with GameBooster. It did the job and I had to do that every few weeks but it was worth it also it only takes a few seconds to do. Thanks, Kyle
  • Try to deinstall it, download it from another Mirror and try to reinstall it again.
Did you gave Crossfire and Gameguard Access through your firewall?
Do you have any Processes running in the backround, (e.g. Energy Saving, Screensaver) that might result in your Comp shutting down?

I originally thought the firewall could be the problem but I tried shutting it down altogether and it still happened.

Energy saving and screensaver are both off and I use gamebooster to shutdown all processes that arent needed.

I tried what Kyle said and this time it got to checking resource files (34%) rather than the usual 0-20% and this time it didnt reboot my PC, it just froze. Ill try rebooting again now and see what happens.

EDIT: After rebooting again it got to 53% then froze. Defragged again and it actually got to the login screen then rebooted itself again :(
