Shadows - How to

In order to get the circle player shadows in CF, you will need to modify the config file (the ingame menu has the option greyed out)

Find the file by going to your documents folder, then the Crossfire folder. Inside will be a file called system.dat. Open this file with Notepad.

You will be met with a screen like the one below, without the descriptions of what the numbers do.



The 6th number down should be a 0 by default. change this to a one.

Now go File > Save As, and name the file system.dat. Change the file type to All Files.

You're done. Load up your game and see how much it ahs been improved by placing all the people on little grey platforms.

Specifics might be wrong from mine, months old.



There are also multiple .dat files elsewhere that I never figured out the specifics too.

FYI both "senstivity" labels are incorrect. The sensitivity is tied to each account. It is impossible to set it from there.

I am stupid and recorded what I tested and saw.

Maybe we are both wrong and it works ENTIRELY different.

No when I change my gamma that changes.

If anythign there modified the mouse sensitivities, then those sensitivities would change depending on what computer you are playing on. They don't.

I think that only the mouse sensivity is attached to the account, the zoom one isn't.

Simply because when I switch from computers I get the zoom sensivity I have put there.

If that's true then my mistake, I assumed that zoom sens was the same as mouse. I haven't tested, so if you're right then my apologize lone.

Also there's an "Option.dat" file on that folder.

Perhaps it's the tab where you choose the sprays etc? idk, I think that that tab is tied to the account, not the computer.

If you think about it, it can give you a lot of advantages, like when someones about to peek.. and so on.

Does this work for ghosts also? Cause if it did, it would be kind of unfair lol.

Option.dat and Sort.dat seem like they are useless, I edited them heavily and also deleted them.

NOTHING HAPPENED.

OT: is this also the options where u can change ur killmarks? i wanted to change mine but i dont know how -.- some say u need photo shop but i dont have photoshop -.-

No this isn't it. The killmarks are located in the Crossfire folder, under UI and then Marks.

gimp.org for a free editor.

Are the Option.dat and Sort.dat files hidden by default? If so, people don't have their options set to see hidden files.

thanks for this i did this last week, it doesnt really help in anyway but it is a nice feature to be able to have. Why is the option for shadows disables in game? it not liek the ghots have shadows are anything so i dont understand why they dont activate them without us having to edit files.

You do need photoshop to make kill marks but you can also download kill marks made by other people already and paste them into the killmarks folder
