Patch FAQ

Because many people have just been really annoying spamming and posting threads, I’ve compiled a bit of a FAQ for those who have no idea what’s going on, or just need a bit of an update from what they heard tomorrow.

Most people who’s information I got from will be credited.

Q : When was the patch, and what was in it?

A :

Well, this patch was coined with the term “Hero Patch”. This is because of the fact that we got the all new Hero Mode with the very nice character with the grenade launchers.

Here is what was in it :

Brand New Cross Fire Launcher!

In order to see the new launcher you will have to start the game over again. The old launcher (which was used during patching) will be replaced and you'll be able to see the new one!

The new launcher brings a sleek new style to getting News of Events and Announcements to you.

Some things to note:

  • There is now a REAL TIME EASTERN SERVER CLOCK on the launcher. This shows you the time and date for our main servers in the US. This also can serve as a reference point for when we do events.
  • Clicking the heading for each Announcement will open up further details for that announcement!
  • Let us know what you think of the new launcher and if there are things we can do in the future to improve it!
  • You can click outside the news area to move the launcher window around your desktop (remember if you minimize the launcher window it won't show up on your task bar)
New Ribbons

Gun Collector - You have collected more than 25 Permanent Weapons (does not include grenades or melee weapons and does include your two starting weapons)

Military Intelligence - You have more than 1,000 Posts on the Z8Games Community Forums

ZP For Everyone! - You have gifted ZP to another account or received a gift from another account using the Prepaid Card Gifting System

My Ribbons are Made of Crystal! - You have collected 20 or more Ribbons. This Ribbon will award your account with a Permanent M4A1 Custom Crystal.

A Hero Emerges - You achieved all 4 of the daily challenges during the Hero Mode Update Weekend!

New Patch Content

Hero Mode
This exciting evolution to Mutation Mode lets you play as a Hero! A powerful character with a modified machine gun and a Grenade Launcher on its alternate fire!

Here are some of the new additions in Hero Mode
  • Mutants can respawn a limited number of times(headshotting a mutant will kill them off)
  • Mutants respawn with 50% less health each time
  • Damage to mutants will increase their levels "Rage"
  • Killing Mutants increases the Humans attack damage up to 100% over the base
  • The Hero can use his grenade launcher by right clicking
  • The Hero always replenishes his ammo from supply crates
  • The Hero can withstand more hits from the mutants
  • The Grenades will push mutants away from the impact spot
New Maps
  • New Hero Mode Map Merida Added!
New Assassin Mutant Character
This Assassin can use his concussion grenades by pressing G (you can hold G to hold the grenade ready). These grenades push humans away from the impact spot. You can use them to push Humans off ledges, out of corners and other obstacles.

Weapons
  • New Golden Gatling Gun ZP Crate Added!
  • New M4A1-E ZP Crate Added!
  • New Dual Uzi ZP Temporary Weapon Added!
  • Chocolate Grenade ZP Temp Added!
Items
  • Mutation Masks ZP Temp Added!
  • Tiger Backpack 10% more EXP ZP Temp Added!
  • Tiger Hat GP Added!
Functional Updates
  • Anti-Hacking measures have been updated and will continue to be monitored. We are constantly working towards making our game as hack-free as we possibly can.
  • The K-2 weapon should now drop as normal in all modes.
  • Text Corrections to the Beret Hat Items.
  • Updates and Corrections to the text of Mutation Related Items.
  • Additional Holiday Seasonal Items have been removed.
  • Quick Join has been added.
    • To access the settings for the quick join click the wrench icon next to the Quick Join button in the Menu UI screen.

Q : How can I get ribbons?

A :

You can get ribbons by easily completing the tasks that go along with them. For example, the Military Intelligence ribbon requires one to post 250 times, once you do it, you get the ribbon the next time the clan page updates.

Q : When does the clan page “update”?

A :
 If you have not received a ribbon. Making a thread about it doesn't change anything. Just wait, sometimes ribbons take a while to come to your soldier profile.
Sometimes it could be 1 day, sometimes it could be three. If it's been over a week or so, send in a support ticket.
Even making a thread in the Cross Fire Technical Support won't change anything, people will tell you the exact same thing I'm telling you now.

So if you don't have a ribbon and you wish to send in a support ticket (I suggest you wait a few days before sending one if you notice you are missing a ribbon)

Q : Can I lose ribbons?

A : Yes you can, here is a list:
  • Clutch Killer
  • Honourable Soldier
  • Look at all of my ribbons!

Q : What New CF Launcher?

A : Simply, when you patch, you should be able to see the launcher every single time you start the launcher again. You HAVE to patch before seeing this launcher, if not, re download the game to fix.

Q : Why was the 1000 posts changed to 250 posts?

A :

This was Z8's first step into linking the accounts, so they wanted to see what would happen. It was somewhat like an experiment, and it totally failed because of the spammers.

The ribbon has already achieved what it was supposed to do. And in a lot of positive ways that may not just be obvious because of the spam. But spamming for 1,000 posts just isn't something we wanted.

We'll be making a more official statement on this once we sort out the issues that seemed to show up in the game post-testing and post-patch that have completely blind-sided us.

Also, not to mention we WILL be doing more stuff with the forums, involving post counts and other things with games. This was just the first step in tying a forum account to a game account. Always have to take a first step to make sure the next one is better. 1,000 was just not going to accomplish what 250 can do.

As for the Crystal, it works the same way as the collect-10 ribbons award. Once you receive the award it is permanent on your account. Losing a ribbon like clutch killer won't remove the gun and/or ribbon from your account.



I will most likely be making these for every patch, MODs and GMs may edit in whatever they think is necessary.
