Well, the ice is just the frozen state of the water that was in the bottle. So once it melted it wouldn't explode or expand because no new water has been added to the bottle. Water starts out behaving normally. As its temperature drops, water obediently shrinks together until it reaches 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees F.). Then, amazingly, water reverses course, its volume slowly increasing as it chills. When water finally freezes, at 0 C (32 F.), it expands dramatically.

Happened to me with a bottle of Guinness when i accidentaly left it in the freezer. It expanded through the stopper into my freezer and did a mess..
When i tried to warmed it, it didnt expand or explode, but it tasted disguisting..Guinness is the beer, right?
Beer got some bubbles in it.. (What's the word in English? Someone helps me?) ..which makes it explode the bottle when liquid freezes.
EDIT: The word I was searching was carbonic acid, or something.. <( O.o)> -

yep, Guinness is the beer.. And i can assure you it didnt explode, it just flew around the stopper, it didnt even push it out..
All it did was a puddle of iced beer around the bottle
