Custom Computer
With much thought, i decided i would make a custom made computer.
However, i have never made one before, and i'm kinda scared of the things that will go wrong.
so.
1. Whats a good place to refer to when building this thing?
2. On a $1000 Budget what parts should i get?
3. If you have a custom made computer, what are your parts and how much did it cost you?

It's really not as hard as you may think, but if you need a guide, try this. It'll show you step by step how to correctly assemble your PC, and show you all the dos and don't dos, and anti-static measures.
As far as finding parts, you can't just whack anything together and expect it to work, just tell us the kind of specs you'll want your computer to have, and we can help you decide the parts you'll need to order.
EDIT: Here's my build if you need some inspiration. -

Where are you getting the parts? Newegg? how much would it cost approximately. -

AMD + ATi > Intel + ATi > AMD + Nvidia > Intel + Nvidia
I love you sometimes

I've ordered them from everywhere over the net, looking around saved me a good 25%+ in total.
For mine, it's approximately £650+ which is roughly $1000.
But I've got peripherals I have to buy with mine, which takes the price down by a good £120 or so. -
I found a 3.5ghz Six-Core Phenom II Black Edition today.
Was tempted to order

Just ask moi sillybum  -

Okay.
First. Pick out the case. Don't go for something flashy and expensive. Pick something at a good price that is reviewed sturdy. Make sure whether it is micro-ATX or ATX. That will play a role later.
Second pick your CPU. Picking cpu before mobo is important for a reason.
The phenoms or athlon processors are good for the price.
Third pick a motherboard. Make sure the socket is the same as the processor. Make sure your motherboard has a pci-e x16 expansion slot. Check the RAM slots and what type of ram is supported. For a AMD based processor you will need a AM3 processor to support DDR3 Check the micro-ATX or ATX at this point
Now pick your RAM, it really isn't as important as people make it out to be. 4 gb is the most you need.
Now get the recommended wattage of the products you chose and get a PSU around the recommended wattage, make sure whether the PSU is Micro-ATX or ATX again also make sure it has enough SATA connectors for the hdd and other components you pick.
Now get a hard drive, base the size of what you use it for. Will it store large amounts of HQ videos? Get a terabyte. Is it more for music? Get a 500 gb. Is it just for gaming? a 160 gb or so will be fine.
Rip the optical drive out of your current build. -

Total € 1289 about 1725,8 USD$
prices taken from an Italian e-shop -
$1,725 USD?
BAHAAHH!!
I can build a better computer at a cheaper price.
HINT: Get an AMD CPU....
ok show me then
Edit:
Think that:
1 - 230$ is for the monitor
(Full HD 24'')
2 - U can just save money for the ram...4 GB instead of 8 GB but i need it for other reason
3- U can save some money money from the Case, but this one is good one and it have sound-absorbing material to reduce noise
4- if u don't want to play on a full hd monitor with a lower resolution u can save on Video Card
54- i don't know in ure contry but in italy we have 20% of tax so without tax it will be about 1382$ + o - -

Even if I take all that into consideration, is still cheaper, but having a 20% tax is a pain in the ass.... -
950W of power supply? that's a lot!
Not the best grahic card, u can't play that good on a 24'' Full HD 1920 x1080
Give a look to these benchmark:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
The processor is not better then i5 2500...
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
So ure pc is cheaper but not better then mine
Even if I take all that into consideration, is still cheaper, but having a 20% tax is a pain in the ass....
LoL yeah!
mmm without monitor, with 4 gb ram and cheaper case (75euro): total is 874 Euro ---> about 1167$ (no tax)
But this build is way better objectively compared to ure and is upgradable too in the future ^_^ -
Think that we have higher price too:
ure hd in italy the lower price is 105$ in USA 80$
nvidia gtx 570 -> 350$ in USA, in Italy 428 $
intel i5 2500-> 205$ in Usa, in Italy 249$
and so on!
so the higher price is for that too
try to check my build with usa price and u'll see Q___Q -

Ooh yes
AMD for the long term, Intel if you want something that's gonna be overshadowed by something new in the next couple of months, no doubt
But yah, even my budget build could compete with that, and that's only £330
