yeah... it is if you know how to burst with it and keep on target. the k1 is literally a light rifle thanks to its 5.56X41mm rounds and was literally the first version of the K2. so yeah, it has long range potential :P -
And @ Eurasien G36K is not an SMG, and it is a bad gun.

G36k is the best SMG like weapon!
Oh lord...
G36K is HEAVY, and it's reload is SLOW. Being lightweight and having a fast reload are what characterize most SMG's (P90 being an exception to the fast reload).
The best way to decide what gun you want to get is to try out as many as you can before you buy. Alaska has the best selection out of the EM maps, and Halloween has the G36k.
TD is good for picking up guns after people die. Once you get a gun you want to try, run back to your spawn so you can shoot it off a few times and get a feel for it. Otherwise this can be a pretty frustrating way to go about it.
Just asking people politely if you can try their guns works well too, and if you ever see me in game I have almost every weapon and I'm not stingy about sharing =X -

high automatic but lower power makes it like a SMG. -
If you like the Steyr, I say get the M4. You can use it basically the same way in most situations, no scope but better recoil and power. Same feel as the AUG but slightly better at ranges where the scope isn't used and slightly worse at ranges where it is. Good all around gun.
