  • Anyone else had a fault with svchost.exe stopping crossfire to load up during textures loading screen
  • According to Microsoft: “svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries”. Could we have that in english please?

Some time ago, Microsoft started moving all of the functionality from internal Windows services into .dll files instead of .exe files. From a programming perspective this makes more sense for reusability… but the problem is that you can’t launch a .dll file directly from Windows, it has to be loaded up from a running executable (.exe). Thus the svchost.exe process was born.

svchost.exe has NOTHING to do with Sound..... Are you using Gamebooster.? If you are deslect the process that you need to use for sound and close all other process.
  • Svchost.exe can be a host to any number of critical and noncritical windows processes. The best way to see what svchost is actually hosting is to use a program called Process Explorer, which is available from Microsoft for free. It will list all running processes and allow you to see what threads are associated with it. In some cases it could even be hosting a spyware process.
