win 7

I have update my OS from xpsp3 to 7x86 and I have 2 issues:

1. My FPS went down from 150 in xp-8v8(with full AA, AF, etc) to 50 in win 7(default gfx settings).
2. Mouse does not work anymore. I can't turn around properly without delay(0.5-1 second).
I tried all settings: 400-3600dpi, 125-1000hz, 3-30ms.
I have no pointer acceleration/precision and the speed is default(6).

help pls

  • Same thing happened here. 4 months ago my fps was 200 and now it is around 50.
  • here are my specs:

    Gigabyte MA770T-UD3
    AMD Athlon II X2 240e @ 2800MHz
    2GB kingston ddr3, dual channel @ 1333 MHz
    Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 5450, 1024MB DDR3
    Western Digital 500GB, sata2
    Oscar x7-730k

I didn't change anything but OS.
The game worked fine with xp so I know it's not the comp, it's the OS.
The memory is not the problem since the OS only uses around 500mb. And I get 100+ fps in A.V.A. with max settings(shader 3.0).

So I need some help from win 7 users. There is any particular thing(s)/settings that I should know about win 7?
  • try to run it in compatible mode???
right click on game link on desktop -> i thought second from above (quess it says smthing with compiability)
-> and then the upperst one

i have a dutch comp so i dont know how it is named in english

first, memory could very well be the problem:
you have 2 gig. (i don't know why)>>> win 7 uses .5 gig and your gfx card uses another 1 gig. that leaves .5 gig to run everything else.

second, yes, xp is more of a gaming OS than 7.
have you even tried optimizing 7 yet ? i bet you cut your ram usage in half www.blackviper.com

third, do you have cool n quiet enabled ? do you have your power settings in control panel set for max performance or balanced or power saver ?

i 'know' win 7 isnt perfect but, it's a helluva lot better than vista and almost as good as xp pro.
good luck figuring this out without buying more ram.

on a side note, why havent you overclocked that thing yet ? (send me a pm if you want)

it's the 32 bit version and it use only 20-25% of the memory in desktop mode, which means around 400-500mb.
cool'n'quiet is disabled, power to performance, plus a few startup services disabled along with aero theme and other visual effects.
and no, I don't need to overclock that thing since I can play pretty much everything with decent fps on med-high settings.
