[sG] User-run PUGs
Ventrilo information:

The Secular Gaming staff has decided to add a new feature to our community ventrilo: User-ran PUGs. With these new channels, users will be able to log on to the vent and start a pug without admins running it. The team channels will be limited to 5 players to ensure privacy.
What is a PUG?
PUG stands for pick up game. If you've ever played a pickup game of basketball, you know what it is. Two captains take turns picking players and then they a play a semi-competitive game.
Rules:
The rules can be found here.
Instructions:
1. Connect to the Secular Gaming ventrilo server.
2. Move to the "Holiday Pug Lobby (Crossfire S&D)" channel.
3. Wait for 10 players to enter the channel. To get more players, you can ask on Xfire, message your friends in Crossfire, and ask players in the Echo 8 lobby or rooms. Make sure to tell them the ventrilo info, as you will not be able to play without it.
4. Once you have 10 players in the PUG lobby, assign 2 captains. The two captains will pick players one by one. When you are picked, move into the appropriate team channel.
5. Once all 10 players have been picked, the two captains will agree on a map and password. Team 1's captain will then make the room in Echo-8 and PM the players the password.
6. The players will then play their pug following these rules. If a player is not following the rules, please save the proof and PM it to an sG Crossfire admin.

horrible solution to lazy adminsWhat he said.
Mend your reputation within this community then talk about a PUG.
Majority of this community don't have an issue. Instead of criticizing openly, actually give us some feedback. Many criticizers just troll. I've only seen two people give real feedback. -

I wasn't aware our reputation needed mending. What problems do you / the community have with us?
Also, if we are a community that is based solely on pugs and drafts at the moment, how are we supposed to "mend our reputation" without actually making a better PUG / draft?
@WillOfGod
We decided to implement this because there are no actual pugs that people can go to as of right now. It's not a solution to anything.
I personally love to pug and would like to see more people pug rather than pub. Instead of going to echo 8 and playing a stupid pug with people rejoining and everything, I would like to see people logging on vent and playing a pug. It increases the competitiveness in the community and is a good way to practice. -

Fear the Denxi, ohwait he only picks on David cause he's mean like that. -
Regardless David, I believe that this new freedom is a great addition to an already amicable league. The kids that cry don't need to worry about it cause they are not invited to the party. I've honestly yet to hear about a random even mention something about the rule set, the closest thing was last Saturday when we warned each other that some kid with an xm8 was spraying down mid in Port.
The point is that this league is filling a particular niche for those that want a competitive environment without the restrictions imposed upon them by the other PUGs and the atmosphere enforced by those that want those types of restrictions. There is no ZP noob name calling in this, likewise there are no derogatory SPOP comments. People come to play, and that is what they do.
I have but one qualm with this league, that the admins might step it up or limit those that they allow to come. No one person can do everything David, just remember that. -
But I do have to do my best to satisfy all aspects of the community. Even though it is nice to use some guns that are glitched in the competitive aspect of gaming, the majority of the sG community would prefer to see a change in the rule set. I think I'll create a poll on sG Website.

You could run two different drafts. For example, a competitive draft on Fridays and a non-competitive draft on Saturdays.
Could also perhaps make 2 sets of PUG rooms on vent, competitive and non-competitve.
The first idea was much better than the latter, in my opinion. Having two separate PUGs going on at the same time would pull the mods attention and time to a thin line. Not to mention, I enjoy larger pugs with more teams. In this scenario, both PUGs are reduced in size.
The competitive / non-competitive PUGs on separate days is a great idea, though. -

I think you've confused PUGs with drafts. PUG stands for Pick-Up Game, with 10 random players. A draft is like a PUG but on a larger scale, with different teams playing in a single elimination tournament style.
Having multiple PUGs going at the same time shouldn't be an issue for admins. as the only attention they need to give is supplying a ringer to a team.
