PUG is short for
Pick Up Game
10 players get together on Ventrilo (a voice communication program) and out of those 10 players, 2 are chosen as "captains"
The 2 captains take turn picking from the 8 players and dividing them into teams of two. A map is decided on, and a game is played.
Its search and destroy, 9 rounds. At the end of the 9 rounds, the players switch sides (GR switches to become BL, etc) and resume play again.
In total 18 rounds are played, whichever team wins the most rounds is the winner.
There is no "reward" at all. Just a chance to play in a competitive, lag free, spop free environment. This is a way for players looking to get into good teams and get their name known. Playing pubs does not teach you a thing. You usually walk away from a pug with a better idea of how to play a certain spot, or learn a new angle to throw a grenade. Stuff like that. -
