Windows XP-->Windows 7

Well generally when you want to install a new OS you should completely Format your Hard Drive.
Starts with you inserting OS CD and restarting with disc, at some point on start up it will give you the option to "boot from disk". Usually is just a step by step progress from there.
NOTE: Formating will erase everything, so backup what you want first onto an alternate drive.
I wouldn't recommend doing this if you don't have experience and have no idea what you're doing. -
XP pwns. <O.o>
Why you want to change?

My Desktop has xp and my laptop has Win7. I find XP better for some reason. -
Oh that's easy to fix. I have Vista on all 3 of my computeres. 2 of them are Vista. Bascially, all you to do is this:
1. Programs File -> Z8Games -> Crossfire
2. Right click, allow Admin Access to CF_G4box.exe and crossfire.exe.
If all else fails, then tell me, and I will help you when I get home. I'm using my XP laptop at school right now. -

I wasn't aware that crossfire could fix issues with installing an OS. It's XP anyways.

"After October 22, 2010, you'll no longer be able to buy new PCs with Windows XP installed."
XP, is oficially, dead. *cries* -

ikr?no, you have no clue about them two.
there is a reason why people with xp get literally two times the performance in games than in windows 7.
That's only if the computer is old, any decent newer computer could care less about the slight increase in power consumption.I agree, I love Windows 7!

i did my research. i did my own benchmarks. xp is the better option if you're serious about gaming.
Darn quoted me before I edited. Dude, any "serious" gamer would have a good pc, that would completely ignore the extra power needed. Which is minimal. -

it's not only about the frames. registration plays a huge factor too (that's when people really found out 7 is identical to vista)
i read several articles about this. there's no question about it, xp is better than vista if you plan on doing gaming. -

ROFL!
Registration? what are you talking about... Your OS has absolutely NOTHING to do with how a game runs. It's all about the games engine.
Let me explain this more bluntly so you hear me this time.
XP= Awesome OS
Windows 7= Awesome OS
Have old computer? -- Use old software.
Have newer PC? -- Use new software... -

you don't even have a clue about computers. you're one of those kids that thinks that new stuff is automatically better. i study computers, i have worked with computers. i ran benchmarks you didn't. i know the inside facts and you don't.
registration is influenced by your internet, and your internet is influenced by your provider. everything after that is influenced by how your os uses your internet. you don't have a clue about this kind of stuff because you've never played games competitively (because that's where this stuff matters most)
the bottom line is, windows 7 is not xp by any means. it's different architecture. if you don't play games competitively and don't give a crap about deep performance, and you want the latest and ''greatest''... go get 7. if you play games competitively, compete for money, care about every single bit of performance in games.. stick with the trusty xp. -
How does Win7 affects hit registration?
internet affects hit registration. internet doesn't just travel through the air all the way to z8's server, it's idles in your computer which you os handles.
you won't notice a difference in registration if you AREN'T playing competitively in games. there is a reason why todays e-sport professionals AREN'T using windows 7 in huge leagues, lans. -

ROFLOL....
Ok first off, don't try to downtalk me, I could care less what you "think" Second, you don't know me so I'll give you a little info.
I've grown up my entire 20 years of my life around computers, I help my dad with computer repairs out of my home, and I've had plenty of experience with software/hardware and I have a very firm understanding on how these things work.
Yes your reg has something to do with your internet. (Its called lag --')
And no I don't think "newer is better" I hated vista and I'll never use the newer versions of Windows explorer.
The OS does NOT effect your gameplay in ANYWAY shape or form. And Ummm last time I checked playing games "competitively" doesn't make you a computer guru. -

YOUR INTERNET JUST DOESN'T FLOAT AROUND IN THE AIR
it is HANDLED by your operating system. windows 7 operates it differently than xp, many professional gamers noticed this when they tried it out. i don't make things up.
playing games competitively gives you a better understanding. -

yes, it has everything to do with your operating system. they wouldn't have OS BENCHMARKS if it had nothing to do with the situation.
you're ****ing stupid
