Emily’s bridge is a bridge in the town Stowe Vermont. It’s original name is the Golden Brook Bridge.
Haunting: It is said that a ghost haunts the bridge because Emily is still waiting for her lover. It is said that she slashes her victims with invisible claws. This has been going on for one-hundred fifty years, and she is also known for shaking cars, and last but not least, she is known for screaming and showing her orbs, her natural soul and ghostly figure. Anyone who takes a picture on this bridge, either using a digital camera or a disposable, the pictures would not develop correctly. Sometimes people in the village would see strange lights or hear strange noises < P>
Bridge: The Bridge was built in the 1700’s by a man named John W. Smith. John built the bridge so the three small villages of Stowe Vermont would be able to be connected as one, instead of three.
Death: The death of Emily was a tragedy because before she committed suicide she had a bad life. Emily was planning to elope on the bridge. When her fiancé did not show up, she hung herself, and to this day she haunts the Gold Brook Bridge.
Story: There are many stories to go with the bridge but it is true that Emily does haunt the bridge. The basic story is that Emily is waiting to elope on the bridge but her fiancé does not show up and she hung her self. Another story is that she tells her new husband that she is pregnant and her husband hangs himself on the Bridge and shortly after she hangs herself. They say that a woman created the story to scare her own children but she soon figured out that it was not a joke. She said she was taking a walk through the bridge and she started feeling sharp pains on her side and then she finally came to the end of the bridge and she saw that she had five slash marks on her side. The woman never came back to the bridge again.
The True Story: The true story of Emily’s Bridge is that Emily hung herself because her fiancé did not show up.
The Husband: Emily’s husband was a very poor man. Her parents would not let her marry him because of this but Emily did not obey her parents. After this her parents locked her in her room but she went through the window. Then she hung herself because her fiancé did not show up.
The people of Stowe: The people of Stowe V.T. say they avoid the bridge as much as possible because Emily is as angry as ever. They say that she saw a couple getting married and she started screaming. The husband was carried on the Bridge and he got slash marks deep enough to make him bleed.
The Paranormal Ghosts Hunters: Many ghosts’ hunters have gone on the bridge and done research including the SCI-FI original TAPS. TAPS said that they had many encounters like going through and seeing that Emily has shaken the car and made scratches on the side and seeing her ghostly figure. TAPS said that they would love to come back and do more researching.
That's an interesting story up here in VT.
I knew the story, but all that was taken from here: http://www.libraryontheweb.org/march_2007/bridge/bridge.html -
Tree Ghosts of Vietnam
By Paul Dale Roberts, HPI Ghostwriter
I have been to Thailand and Burma. I have never been to Vietnam, even though I flew over Vietnam and Laos to get to Thailand. I hope to one day visit Vietnam. Vietnam has become a friend to America and tourists are treated graciously. My half brother Andrew Somprise Soyo remembers a different Vietnam. He remembers being an infantryman for the US Army and fighting in the jungles. He remembers the smell of napalm, the sounds of helicopter blades. He remembers seeing his friends die, he remembers the dangers of the jungle. He remembers a close friend dying next to him, after being bitten by a dangerously venomous snake. I do not know if my brother was exaggerating, but he claimed the snake is known as a one-minute snake, because it can kill you in one minute. My brother left Vietnam and carried back with him Malaria. At nights, he wakes up in a cold sweat as he goes through the symptoms of Malaria. Malaria will always remind him of the jungle. My brother remembers the negative side of Vietnam and the only two things that came out of Vietnam that he considered positive is when he received the Soldier of the Year Award and an R&R trip to Thailand.
With the many wars, suffering, torture, tragedies that this small nation has witnessed, you would imagine that Vietnam has many, many ghosts. I interviewed a close friend of mine. Her name is Thuy Phan. Thuy is refreshing, reverberating and full of life. With big smiles, she can tell you about Vietnam. A Vietnam that she visualizes as paradise. Thuy is 19 years old and has heard stories about the war, but to her, it's like a mere fable that has been told to her, it seems unreal. I asked her if there are ghosts in Vietnam and her response is "plenty".
Thuy remembers the stories about the 'tree ghosts of Vietnam'. Legend has it that wandering spirits around the countryside of Vietnam need a place to live and they take up residence in the trees of the jungle. It is said that if you cut down a tree without asking permission, you will be cursed or you will face bad luck. Usually the people of Vietnam will perform a ceremony asking the entities to leave a tree and to move onto another tree before cutting it down.
Former Lieutenant Howard Pierce who recently went to Vietnam on vacation, stopped off in the jungles of Bach Ma. He claims he saw two pale apparitions staring at him from one tree. As he approached the tree, the apparitions vanished in front of his very eyes. Perhaps Howard saw the tree ghosts of Vietnam?
Another ghost story that Thuy recalls is a story from her sister. Her sister and her sister's supervisor were working out-of-town and were staying in a hotel that was reputed to be haunted. As they discussed how the hotel is haunted, Thuy's sister's supervisor started walking around the hallway and saying..."I don't believe in ghosts, come out and show me that you are here!" She kept saying that over and over again. Finally an apparition actually walked in front of her and went into another room making a loud sound. After that day, Thuy's sister's supervisor believed in ghosts.
Three tourists claimed that in the Phuoc Tuy Province they encountered a phantom soldier that was wearing a hat that was flipped over on one side. He appeared to be bleeding from the side of his neck and holding his neck as if he were trying to stop the bleeding. They could hear the soldier say in an English or Australian accent: "I need help, where am I?" As they watched the soldier walk down the hill, he faded into a thick tree.
People that have explored the tunnels of Vietnam, have made claim of seeing moving figures in the tunnels. Could those moving figures be ghostly tunnel rats? Tunnel Rats of our American servicemen who went into these underground dwellings looking for VC (Viet Cong)? How many tunnel rats died tragically by poisonous ****y traps? Those poisonous ****y traps being bamboo viper, venomous Krait and scorpions placed strategically in places of the tunnels by the VC. If these biological ****y traps didn't get you, then perhaps the shrapnel from a grenade or a discharged projectile from an AK-47 would make its mark. If you were a soldier in Vietnam and you were inside these tunnels, you were facing death. How many people including VC and allied soldiers died in these tunnels? Do I believe these tunnels to be haunted. My answer is "yes".
Vietnam had many conflicts, the Vietnam War was just one of those conflicts. With all of the tragedies of Vietnam, I believe there are many, many ghosts. I will never forget as I walked the Bridge of River Kwai in Thailand. I could feel the pain and suffering that once befell this tragic area. I didn't have to be psychic to feel the deep negativity. So when Thuy Phan tells me that there are ghosts in Vietnam. I have to believe her. -
On the 10th of November 2006, my little brother passed away at age 7. It was a tragedy that affected the very core of who I was, and am. My brother and I were always close (me being the oldest and him being the youngest).
I have always had the ability to sense, see and communicate with spirits. This experience however, is the experience of my sister. (middle child)
I will attempt to write in the first person as not to confuse anyone.
...
The day before my brothers funeral, the house was packed with mourning family members. In the loungeroom, I lay on the floor with my cousins to talk about my brother and the good times we had. I soon fell asleep. After sometime I "woke up" to my (deceased) brother gently shaking my shoulder. I knew I was dreaming but I was so happy to see him.
He told me to come with him to the room we shared, and play with him. I was nervous, I didn't want to go. I was scared but I didn't want to make him upset. I cautiously followed him to our room, where he commenced to climb up into the top shelf of our closet (we used to make cubby houses there). He told me to follow him up there to play with him.
I told him I couldn't go up there. He held out his hand and told me that he would help me up. At this point I started to cry.
(My grandmother always told my sister and I that, if anytime a member of our deceased family or anyone that we knew to have passed away, to never take their hand, because they will be able to bring you soul and spirit to heaven with them [we had an Irish Catholic upbringing])
As I said before, I started to cry. I so desperately wanted to take his hand. He was crying and I couldn't bare to see him upset. He told me that he wanted to take me with him. He didn't want to be alone. So I slowly raised my hand and something stopped me.
Something had already taken my hand and was holding it tightly. I woke up to my sister shaking me, yelling at me not to do it. She was holding my hand and telling me its not my time.
I woke up and cried on my sister's shoulder. I told her that a part of me wanted to go, but a part of me wanted to stay. After I had calmed down she told me that she walked into the room and saw me lift my hand so she rushed to my side and grabbed onto my hand and held it tightly.
She told me she did this so I would have a connection to the living world. Still to this day I think about it. I think about what could have happened if my sister didn't walk into the room.
Us aboriginal Australians believe that we should never take a deceased person's hand either in a dream or reality, because they will be able to take us (our spirits/souls) with them, either into the sirit world, heaven, hell, etc. (I don't want to offend anyone here).
So that is my sister's story. I have always wondered about her experience, and yes I was the big sister in the story. Has anyone had similar experiences? I would like to enlighten my sister if she may have a gift of some sorts. All this taken from http://www.yourghoststories.com/real-ghost-story.php?story=10265 -

The house was a raised semi-detached bungalow we were renting from an Italian (who was identical to Gerry Dee's description is his skit XD)
Later at night in the basement you could hear the "thump thump" echoing ever so softly. You could hear it through every wall, in every spot, but only in the basement. I put ear to the wall just about everywhere down there, and could never figure out where it was coming from.
Being a basement, most of the pipes/vents run across the ceiling, but I was never able to link it to faulty infrastructure.
And the back of the basement was a small kitchen, which in turn had a door to a sub-basement level that was always locked. It may have been my imagination, but the closer I got to the door, the faster the "heart" would beat...
Eventually our curiosity was insatiable, and we opened the door. It was an empty and musky room, but nothing special. I was thoroughly disappointed. A couple weeks later I noticed we never heard the heart beat again. -

Floor in Gentling Hotel.
This story was related by a close friend whose relative worked in one of the Genting Hotels.
It was said that there is a floor (in between hotel rooms) contributed to only the spirits of Genting Highlands. This floor is said to be set in such a way where the entire floor is dimmed and gloomy and at the end of the hall has a long table which represents an altar.
An exclusive number of designated hotel staff would be assigned to be the only ones given access to this floor to give peace offering onto the altar, therefore they will be the only ones with the access card (I don’t know how they access but I assume it’s done by card that is used to swipe in the elevator).
Somehow, a group of 4/5 boys (somehow managed to achieve access to this floor) knew about the happenings of this particular section.
They took the lift to the floor feeling anxious, afraid, thrilled, etc (you name it). Once the door opened, none of them were brazen enough to step out, in fact, they all stood inside the small confinement and stared cautiously into the enlarged dimmed hall.
One of them said it was enough and that they should start heading back down to the lobby so the one nearest to the buttons pressed ‘Close Doors’.
As you expected in any ghost stories, the doors did not close. Even after several attempts the doors did not budge an inch.
Until one of them who had enough as his patience wore thin, he said ‘F*** it, I’m taking the stairs!’
So, he dash out of the lift and headed for the staircase. The moment he step foot out of the lift, the doors began to creak and close in an unusual fast motion.
His friends panicked and instantaneously pulled him back into the lift. Had the doors closed on it and the friends were not able to pull him back in time, who knows what will befall him if he’s alone on that spooky floor.
Though this story was only told by a friend, I don’t know how many versions were there. But this was related by a friend’s relative who worked in Genting Hotel. So let me know if there is another version, or perhaps the real truth of the existence of this floor. -
The Serpent
It was like any ordinary church Sunday. I was in church at 9.00 a.m. I was the pianist for that Sunday and by 8.45am I was already by the church grand piano, dishing out soft music to ‘enhance’ the worship atmosphere.
That day’s service was a special meeting. An American evangelist came to our church to conduct a series of Spiritual training. In short ‘Ghost-busting’. So we were asked to bring all those ‘troubled’ souls to our church for some ‘cleansing’. I could sense the great amount of anticipation and excitement in the air.
Half-way through the praise and worship session, suddenly there was a scream in the middle of the congregation. A teenage girl fell out of her seat and was wriggling on the floor ! She was slithering like a serpent !
Everyone was shocked but they continued singing , pretending nothing had happened because of the Kiasu attitude.
The church pastor , several church elders and the American evangelist came to see what had happened. They were trying to pin her down to stop her from shaking violently.
The girl shrugged off her restrainers with just one swung of her arms. They were all floored. Then she raised herself up like a cobra, swinging her head back and forth and hissing.
There was a general fear among some of those who witness the incident. Some quickly distanced themselves from her and some ran to the back of the congregation.
It was now quite obvious that the girl was demonically-possessed. Or ‘oppressed’ if you are those who could not believe that Christians could be possessed by evil spirits. She screamed “Pastor Morgan, what do you want to do with us !!!”. We were quite surprised she knew his name. Then again, perhaps she had read the brochures given out earlier on.
The pastor approached her face to face in the aisle and asked her,”What is your name, demon?”
“haha, which one are you asking?”
“All of you.”
“We are the seven spirits of the Serpent. You may call us Serpents.”
“Where are you from , Serpents.”
“Ahhhh, we are from the snake farm.”
“What do you want to do with ..” the pastor paused and whispered to the elder beside him. The elder whispered back.
“What do you intend to do with Lisa?”
“we want to torment her,her family and friends and make them afraid.” growled the girl in an almost coarse manly voice.
“No we cannot let you do that because she is a child of God. You will have to leave her and her family and friends alone. You hear?”
“Hahahah make us !!!!!”
The pastor started to speak in ‘tongues’ for 10 minutes. The whole congregation also went into tongues. All the while , the Serpent never ceased doing the cobra stance and hissing and spitting.
Finally, the pastor stopped speaking in tongues. So does everyone. He took his huge bible and said “In the name of Jesus, i command you Spirit of Serpent to leave Lisa right this moment and never to return again!!!”
He whacked the bible on Lisa’s head hard and down she went onto the floor. She passed out. The pastor took some ointment and rubbed it onto her forehead. She came to herself a few minutes later and she was herself again.
Later some of us asked her what had happened. She said that during the service , she suddenly found herself alone in a dark room. She could see nor hear anything. The next thing she knew was she was waking up after smelling the nasty ointment on her nose.
However she was never ever possessed again. -
A Ghostly Love Story
It was the smell of sweet fragrant Ye Lai Xiang scent that made my nephew noticed her at the library.
Alvin first noticed her as she passed by his table to sit at the far end of the library. She smelled so nice, thought Alvin. She must have spent a fortune on perfumes.
She has been coming to the library on her own for the past two evenings. So he noticed. He had occasionally stole glances at the pretty young long-haired girl. He had made up his mind to introduce himself to her and get her phone number that very evening. It is a ‘do-or-die’ mission. He smiled to himself.
And there it is again! That wonderful sweet scent. Here she comes. Alvin looked up and his eyes met hers. She gave him a shy half-smile and he smiled broadly in return. Go for it, his heart told him.
“Hi,err.. would you like to sit here?” Alvin could not believe he was saying this. “I saw you have an interest in gardening. I am a Botany student and i wonder if we could talk about flowers.”
It was a silly ice-breaker but it worked! She smiled and sat in front of him.
“Yes, i like flowers, especially the scented ones. How did you know?” she asked.
“Ah, i always see you holding books on this subject.” winked Alvin. He was trying hard to think of the next few pickup lines to say.
“Botany must be a very interesting subject.” she said.
Alvin tried hard not to look at her beautiful hazel eyes and her delicate lips. She was an amazingly pretty girl. He wondered why no guys accompanied her to the library. Perhaps she had not a boyfriend.
They had a wonderful time chatting and laughing for the next two hours. Fortunately, there were usually not many people in the library at this hour. They did not disturb anyone.
Finally it was time for her to go home.
“Alvin, i need to go.”
“No, wait. Do you have a FaceSpace or NSM? or Yohaa ?”
“No.”
“Do you have an address?”
“Why?”
“I want to see your garden.”
she was pleased. She told him her address and her name was Britney Chong.
She did not come to the library the next few days and he kind of missed her. Alvin thought he was in love. He could not stop thinking about her.
Finally, he decided to pay her a visit the next morning. He reached a nice double-story bungalow in the pricey part of the city. He pressed the bell and an old woman answered the door.
“May i speak to Britney Chong please? She gave me this address a few days ago.”
The woman started to cry and an old man , came to the door.
“What do you want? Why did you make my wife cry?” He asked harshly.
“I.. I… was asking for Britney. I saw her in the library a few days ago but she didn’t turned up the past few days..i just wondered what had happened to her.” Alvin stammered.
The old man’s face turned pale and then he became angry.
“Young man, i don’t know who put you up to play such a cruel joke on my wife. Britney our daughter died one year ago!”
Alvin’s mouth went agape and his heart sank. The door was slammed on his face. His mind went blank.
That evening he went to the library and asked about Britney Chong. The old librarian typed something into her computer.
“Ah, a pretty little girl. But what a pity. She jump off this seven story building about one year ago. Right from that window over there.” She pointed to the window at the far end of the library.
Alvin was speechless and he sat down trying to regain his composure. At that instance, Alvin smelled fragrances… -
Classroom Ghost
The bell rung and Miss Lee entered her favorite class of 3B. This class was full of mischievous 15-year old boys and girls.
After the usual ‘Good mornings’ , Miss Lee proceeded to stand in front of the class and started to open her Geography textbook.
Sitting right in front of her were two of her most favorite naughty Chinese girls, Shanna and Adele. They kept talking and giggling even though Miss Lee was already starting her lesson.
Suddenly the two girls stop talking and started to stare at the direction of the Teacher’s desk which was at the right front of the class. They turned pale.
Miss Lee was puzzled. She moved towards the desk to trying to figure out what the girls were staring. The whole class suddenly became as quiet as the graves.
Finding nothing, Miss Lee sat on the desk and continued her lecture from there. Suddenly the two girls started shivering and screaming. Almost immediately, both ran out from the class screaming with the entire class amused, watching their almost comical antics.
Miss Lee told the monitor to take care of the class and quickly rushed after the two girls. The two girls ran downstairs and into the cafeteria. They sat there crying, wailing and screaming.
Teachers from the nearby staffroom came out and went to see what had transpired. The girls just could not stop screaming for the next 20 minutes.
Finally, the teachers managed to calm them down. Later they were sent to the Counseling Room and they told the Counselor what they saw in the classroom.
“We saw an old horrible-looking woman standing behind the desk. She was looking and smiling at us,” said Shanna.
“Yes, when Miss Lee went to sit by the desk, the woman suddenly floated behind Miss Lee,” added Adele.
The Counselor asked “Both of you saw the same woman?”
“Yes !” replied the two girls.
Their parents were called to the school and they were allowed to go home after the traumatic experience.
Nobody saw anything after that. -
Girl Washing Cars
This incident happened in one of the multi storey carpark in Punggol that happened to one of his friend.
One of his friend, Alvin (not his real name), has the habit of washing his car during the wee hours around 11pm to 1am after he finished his work or errands. (Actually, I have this habit of washing my car at night too……..)
One night as usual, he went to his favorite spot to wash his car. While he was washing his car, he noticed a lady was also washing her car at the other end of the car park. From the distance, he also noticed that the color of the car is also very unique, it is gold in color. At that point of time, Alvin only wanted to quickly finished up the washing of his car as he needs to rush back home to catch a TV show and therefore, he continued with the washing.
After he finished washing his car, the lady was already gone. A sudden thought came into his mind that he wanted to take a look at the unique gold color car which he had never see before. He walked swiftly towards the direction of the gold car and to his horror……….it was a car made of paper… He was so frightened and rooted then. Only after a few seconds, he plucked his feet off the ground and ran as fast as he could to his car and sped home…
Since then, he never washed his car during the night already especially if he is alone.
