Scar Light: A Rant
Before this wall of text gets started, I have 4 things I have to say.
1. Scar Light is an overpowered weapon
2. If you say tl:dr, you are a tool.
3. I use the M4
4. I have never owned a permanent scar light
The scar light is an overpowered weapon. It has a decent firing rate, good damage, and fantastic accuracy with virtually no recoil. Now I decided to make this thread because of an increasing trend of hatred towards this weapon. At first I couldn't help but agree. That scar light is easy to use, a lot of players use it, and its kind of nooby. You can't surf through the forums too long without seeing "scrub light" or "skill light"
Over the past month or so, I have seen so much ignorance on these forums about this rifle. In fan works, if you post a video with a scar light you are flamed immediately. If you post a nice score in a game, and your an SPOP with a scar light, your a noob. Here is a good example.
Some pro players actually use this gun competitively, for example Toxsyn.
When the scar light first came out, everyone wanted it. The most competitive players bought a scar light at first, admit it, you no its true. A lot of people own or have owned a scar light. It was later nerfed in a patch and people actually complained about it.
Now that scar light is some sort of curse in a crossfire community. Players are now judged by the gun that they used immediately. If I were to post a 1v5 clutch against Trio (This is hypothetical, I can't clutch them...) in fan works right now using the scar light. Nobody would think I was a good player. Even if anyone who clutches 1v5 against a top clan is pretty decent in my book.
I understand all these arguements and hatred towards this gun, but at the same time, I also understand why you would want to use this gun. Its easy to use, and if your good with it, go right ahead.
I don't even think a scar light is that overpowered anymore. Any decent AK user will destroy a Scar Light user every time. We have Silenced M4's with scopes, we have AWM's with 10 bullets. We have AK's with 38 bullets per clip. We have the RPK. Is the scar light even that good?
You see, the main point I want to make with this thread is that it is silly to judge a player based on the rifle that they use, and it is silly to not use a gun that you do the best with because of peer pressure. We can't all be AK users. Just because you use a Scar doesn't mean you will burn in hell.
So spray on scar light users, I may get angry when you kill me in a scrim with your SPOP. But I know that you can do whatever you want to, and you can't use it in WOGL.
And yes, I know I'm not changing anybodies mind.

So a gun that has recoil after the 5th bullet instead of M4s 3rd is not ok to use but using silenced weapons is?
SL is loud as hell, you can hear it very far away, silenced guns not really. A good player can be a ninja with a silenced gun.
Info: I don't use SL at all and don't have it. So don't think I'm biased. It's just a gun like the others. I'd take an m4-adv over a SL anytime. -
I sold my SL for xm8 crates but when ever i bring out the temp SL to make some GP i think to myself goddamn this gun is overpowered.. its the dmg and long range accuracy of a rifle with the recoil of an SMG, it has average boxing damage, and its one of the fastest reloads.
Basically anyone whose good with m4, ak, k2, xm8 could easily pick up a SL and pwn, but if SL users picked up a different rifle they would lose skill instantly. -
This is how I see it. The SCAR Light starts out very strong, but fails to compete at higher levels. When you first get access to it, chances are you're still just pubbing it out all day. The SCAR Light is great for that. You can easily take out one or two noobs who aren't paying attention if you can aim at all. However, once you get into more competitive play, it stops being such an amazing gun. It's got a terrible spray pattern, so chances are you're not going to ace the entire enemy team running down a hallway like you could do with an AK or M4. It's a little harder to control than the M4, making long range bursts less effective, and it's a little weaker than the AK, making single shots a little harder. Easy to use in the short run, outclassed in the long run.
Also, anyone who 1v5 clutches Trio is pretty good regardless of the gun they use. -

Yup
so true -
I own a scar light. When I start sucking, I pull it out. Usually I just go with my M4A1-custom though.
Anyways~ I hate the scar light. I do realize they're pros who use scar light as their main gun since it is the easiest gun to use that can effectively challenge ZP users. I will not acknowledge their "skill" because the gun is too easy to use. If you really want to be a pro, but are too accustomed to the scar light, I would recommend a M4A1 or a K2. -
Way I see it: The large majority of people who play CF are worse than me, so I am not going to begrudge them a weapon that helps them even the odds. I do dislike people who start to think they are better than me when they kill me with Scar-L vs. Winchester, but that's not the Scar-L's fault.
Summary: You are never going to be the best. Ever. Either use the Scar-L to get whatever KD makes you sufficiently happy, or use a gun that you can have fun with and settle for less than a 2.5 -
if a gun that works like the scarlight would appear in counter-strike. I'd predict a 200,000+ signatures on a petition to remove it.
An AK may be the most powerful rifle of the game in term of damage but it's balanced by having a much higher recoil and lower rate of fire. The scar light not only beats almost all the rifles in every stats but virtual takes no practice time/knowledge/good shot. It's a hitscan weapon that instagib you in a mere 1.2 second by just pointing your chest and holding left button. -

Someone plays UT/Quake....
Nice use of vocab. But for the record, every weapon minus the nades are 'hitscan' in CF. And the only real instagib wep is the AWM if you hit above the waist. -

But seriously, stop b#tching about scar. Nerf Kriss and Tommy. End of line. -

Exactly what I was thinking. TBH, I was finding SL to be terribad in some CWs (however I don't really take CWs seriously, partially due to 260 ping). When I used my K2 I never really went down hard.
If this game was nicely coded, SnD SMGers will be long dead. Instead, using such SMGs allow you to 1. spray with low recoil, and 2. tank my bullets because you are moving at almost knife speed & I have high ping. I actually have had a ~30 ping Kriss user tank a good 20 bullets out of my K2 while reloading, to then turn around and kill me.CheeseRocks wrote: »Why tommy? mediocre damage and bad at long range. No aim. Just look the character and spray and pray. It's basically a scar, with faster RoF, lighter, and big clips. Kriss is even worse. Mid range eh? I'm forced to pick up AWM on fortress and egypt in order to keep the low skillers at bay. 'nuff said. And yeah, there's one reason for wich I'm happy kriss/tommy/scar wasn't nerfed. MM. We NEED it for MM. Noobguns are actually the only thing that CAN damage a zombie sucessfully AND keep you alive.CheeseRocks wrote: »Why tommy? mediocre damage and bad at long range.
