NM Mode Tactics Paper

After playing NM for a while, I've noticed that there is a feasible way to beat the mutants, with just regular average 0 ZP, random gun Joe's.

This paper is for Port Only:

Typical situation
____________________________________________________________________________
In an 8 person match, 5 up on the platform, 3 down low. The platform group will usually have one mutant, and they will knock it down. The mutants will go after the three down low, but the platform group will cover the LG (low group) as they ascend the stairs.

Best Situation
____________________________________________________________________________
Again, 8 person match. 5 in HG, 3 in LG. Same plan as before, except that the LG has both mutants. Focus fire on the closest mutant to the remaining person, and cover their escape up the stairs. If they are already running away, remain vigilant until if and when they are mutated

Worst Situation
____________________________________________________________________________
Same things as before, but HG has both mutants. HG should scatter off the top of the wall, and try to regroup up at the top with LG. LG should run away at first if this happens, attempting to draw the mutants to them and away from HG, as HG covers them. LG should run ACROSS HG's field of fire, or TOWARD HG, but NEVER AWAY from HG. This is because you don't want the bullets of HG pushing the mutants toward LG.

Notes
____________________________________________________________________________
(If possible) HG should be comprised mostly of heavy weapons, and LG of runners with lighter ones, as LG will be doing a lot of running

If an ammo box should drop in the optimum position (right by platform) one, and only one person should run to get it, with the whole team keeping their eyes peeled for mutants.

Should the outer perimeter be breached at any time, follow the directions under worst situtation.

For a larger match, figure that you want LG to be a little bit under half of HG.

In worst situation, LG should storm up the platform as soon as a mutant has been pinned in a corner by bullets, guarding HG's unprotected rear area.

Thanks for reading, and happy hunting troops!

  • Well sorry to say but the tactic is noobish and stupid ;P

  • How So?

So you mean to suggest that the Humans should run around, all alone, and wait for the mutants to get them? The only chance the humans have is sticking together in a united front. Nobody can take the mutants on by themselves, not even you on your high horse.

In fact, such arrogance only comes from inexperience and blatant ignorance of tactics. He who calls someone a 'n00b' is only showing how close to that state he is. I suppose that you in your infinite wisdom can come up with a better tactics paper, huh, punk?

Anyway, I'd like to see you beat the mutant team all by your lonesome with nobody to back you up on an ammo run. This is how the mutants want you to fight, alone, scared, and trying to act tough. They know that a lone human will soon be lunch.

This tactic is the only one that you can implement on a large or small scale, with any type of team. Trying to act tough gets you mutated, admitting that you need help, is the first step in survival.

Realize that this "stupid" and "noobish" tactic was used for tens of thousands of years by our hunter-gatherer ancestors, and guess what happened; it worked like a charm. Hardly a mastodon that was targeted survived, pinned and speared to death.

You probably just run around like a chicken with its head cut off; trying to show the world that you are the chosen one, hiding the fact that you're no better than anyone else. This is known as a Napolean complex, but I won't bore you with the details, you paid attention in class right?

Or are you just a wimpy little kid that tries to act tough and idiotic on the internet, hiding behind walls of text? Well here's news for you, the charade doesn't last forever, eventually you'll have to show me what's wrong with my idea.

But if you really are "t3h pwnz0r", this shouldn't be trouble at all.

Do you have a life? or do you dwell on the forum all day talkin bs, nobody wants to hear your opinion GTFO bich =] and nice tactic better than what happens in most games.
  • Thanks guys

Thanks for reading my paper, I can't seem to figure out how to beat Zone 13 yet. I think that I have some ideas for it.

    Here it is:

NM tactics paper, for Zone 13

This will let you survive the mutant hordes as they attack your positions on top of buildings and shipping containers.

The two groups are again, High Group (HG) and Low Group (LG)

HG should always try to get the the box complex and defend themselves there. LG should be loosely packed under the skybridge, to dominate the center of the map.

    Best Situation
    ____________________________________________________________________________
Mutant spawns away from main group, all those around the mutant should attack it and fall back to the high platform that is part of that huge box and shipping container pile (without that grey platform that that has an empty space in front of it.

    Usual Situation
    ____________________________________________________________________________
One mutant per group, HG should scatter from their perch and regroup there without the mutant. LG should storm the mutant and distract it while HG retreats to cover. HG should then cover LG as it ascends the steps of boxes.

    Worst Situation
    ____________________________________________________________________________
Both mutants spawn in HG, HG should scatter and use the leap-frog system to retreat to the other point of high cover (the one with the grey platform). LG should retreat there immediatley and engage the mutants as they see them.

    Notes:

    See previous paper

This map is varied, and doesn't offer any places of simple, ideal protection. Therefore, your team should fight a 360 battle, since here, circles beat lines.

Good luck troops, and happy hunting!

I agree with the pink text dude.

Over all opinion is....Wow, how is this a strat in anyway? not to mention no one in N.M. listens anyway.

And fyi this belongs in barracks, not suggestions
  • Duh...

But that's the point of a strategy, this was intended for clans and friend circles!
If nothing else, this should give you a personal guide as to what you should try to do in NM.

And what do you mean, "How is this a strat?" it's a detailed battleplan of all that usually* happens in Port and Zone 13 NM. *Sometimes weird things like disconections and lag happen.

    As for noobish, how so?

Yeah, I noticed how this is in the wrong place, just after I got my first note of feedback. Sorry guys, but I'll write new papers in the other forums. For now, don't let the grumpy old trolls get you down.

    Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

  • for max 8 people, will never work for 8+ ppl.
  • It's crazy easy to win with 8 people. If atleast on person has an RPK or an M60, and doesn't get infected, you can easily pin the mutant and kill him.

For 16 games, form THREE groups, each with atleast one defensive (MG) and one support (Sniper), that way, it enables atleast one or perhaps two "survivor" groups that can regroup together after the initial infection.
  • Look at the Original Post

Did you read through the entire thing?

I said that this can be used to deploy a 16 person team as well, just make the numbers big enough. The idea is to have a group that can charge the mutants after the big group (on the platform) scatters and cover the large group's ascent.

But with three groups, you get messy, as there are only two positions of cover around, and this game is beaten by running out the clock, not trying to run from the mutants. Safety in numbers and the high ground is your best bet.

  • Best strat for N.M. DONT be a noob....(should actually be called Rules for N.M.)

Let me break that down for ya'll.

    1. Dont stand near the edge of the camp area in port so the freaking mutants can hit you from below.

    2. dont waste ammo shooting them while there just running around below. Wait till the get on ramp.

    4. Dont ever, ever, ever freaking block, just get a m60 and stand on edge of camp area. If somone up there turns mutant spray them into corner and its a free kill. Blocking just means if the mutant is stuck in middle of the pile, then 4 seconds into game theres already 5+mutants ez.

But eaziest way to remember this is...Dont be a noob
  • Another useful hint for Mutation Mode;

Most guns have 30 bullets and so if everyone sprays the approching mutant you all have to reload and then the mutants can come forward. If you reload randomly, people will always be spraying the mutant so It cannot approach you
