windows movie maker = easy to use
sony vegas 8/9 = great for editing, but you either have to get someone elses activation code or torrent it.

Ping doesn't matter for fraps as long as you have a fairly decent FPS rate.
I'd recommend 50+ but higher is always better.

I have a good computer and good FPS and I lag with Fraps. GameCam is the best. It doesn't make me lag at all, but x-trap flags it now.

Growler Gun Cam is the next best capture program that I have found. NO lag at all.

I use Power Director to edit.

Growler works pretty well, you can edit the recording quality and the fps recording rate. 20 is decent :x, maybe its just my computer.

You can actualy download a trial for sony vegas, and re-download the trial each time it expired. I got the pro 9 version!
