OmniThought's Criticism Of Mutation Mode

The hp cap for mutants is a bit too high for soldiers to effectively take on unless the team is perfectly coordinated, which rarely occurs and should not have been expected when mutation mode was programmed.

Mutants should not be able to have any more than 2500 hp Maximum. Slugs should start out with 1000 hp and be capped at that hp until they mutate into berskers. When they mutate into berserkers, they should gain 500 hp and be capped at 1500 hp. When Berserkers mutate into titans, they should gain 1000 hp and be capped at 2500.

Also, speed boosts should take away 500 hp.

  • It's not that they are too good it is that we are bad. No one works like a team so everybody turns into mutants. So yeah this sucks. People deny to boost people in higher places as they are selfish. The only thing remaining to say is that the HP is high enough. We just suck like hell -_-

  • Personally i think they should keep hp caps as they are and just get rid of regenerating health. I can take 1.5k off a mutant no problem but when he comes back in 30 seconds with 2k hp its not fair.
  • I think the health regeneration should be lowered a little, maybe to 150 or 100 instead of 200. Apart from that, I say everything is fairly balanced.

    You should be able to take down a slug without needing your entire team and without having to use more than two full clips. The HP regeneration would not be a problem if they could not regenerate their hp to a 4000 cap. Maybe the speed boost hp loss could be reduced to 250 hp if they reduced the hp of mutants, but the hp of mutants is too high for most people to kill even one slug alone and have some ammo left unless they hit almost every shot, which is an unfair expectation. On the other hand, this might make mutants easier to kill, but it's not like they can't just run away, regenerate, and come back to try again. As things stand, mutants, in most cases, do not have to work as a team. Mutants can be a two to three man army and take down a full soldier team without having to run and regenerate. Regenerating is usually only an issue when a whole team, not a lone player, has sprayed a mutant down, which can be difficult if that team has to spray three mutants down.

    If they lowered the mutant hp, mutants would actually have to work as a team, hence berserkers and titans running in to take the brunt of the bullets while slugs run in after and mutate people, or vice versa. This does happen in some games, but rarely needs to, as most mutants can sit around, take the brunt of the bullets from a first attack, and then rush in without really having to worry about whether people will reload and kill them, as their hp is so high.

    Also, I think that supply crates should spawn in one general area. That area would of course be in the open, so mutants could easily rush in to mutate teams that would camp there, but I believe that since there are only two supply crates that spawn for a whole team of soldiers, it would be much easier on the soldiers to get ammo, survive, and win if they didn't have to run around maps swarming with mutants to find ammo only to get mutated once they do find the ammo by the 5 or so mutants that chased them down the whole way. Also, the crates would spawn in a radius, not on one spot, so soldiers wouldn't be able to completely predict where the crates would be. The soldiers would have to grab the ammo and run back to their cover areas or be mutated.
  • The only thing overpowered is the Mutant Spike and the Dread character for obvious reasons. I can take down 2-3 zombies with an M4 easily. If they regen, I can just do it again. Aim for the head at all times and you can take down any mutant easily.

    Two to three 2000 hp slugs alone, with a 30/90 clip, without getting mutated, with the slugs having the ability to regenerate, and without running out of ammo? I highly doubt that, and also highly doubt the notion that every shot you take will hit slugs in their heads, or even hit them at all.
  • I don't know any technicalities of Mutation Mode, it's just the most fun place to mess around xD If you have people on vent, then it makes it 100% more fun.
  • I see nothing wrong with the current mode nothing overpowered or unblanced. Well maybe the laggers that keep flying around that take so many take more then 10 hit to infect as mutant.XD

    I agree. For 3 slugs, that's half shots headshot (60 out of 120 M4 ammo). There's laggers, who won't take the usual damage, and the usual reg issues. You must have been farming.

  • and the only way humans win in port is when the mutant spawns in the corner and is surrounded by everyone. sometimes, when that actually happens, some people try to KS and knife and zombies like they're pro. They get infected and everything is ruined...

    the only way humans win in zone13 is when they boast up on top of the roof. even then, zombies get boasted and the person dies. but not most of the time.

    If you have two people, someone has to turn to a zombie. in port, go to the B cargo in the air and camp while the zombie blocks the door. all you need to worry about is boasters. in zone, one person boasts on the roof while the other zombie blocks the little wooden window. sure the zombies can boast, but it'll be MUCH harder.
