Ok, so we all know about how the rival factions have/had a "Great" impact on CF. Now what I am wondering is, what would have happened if GR had won instead of BL in the last round? Would there still be Mutation Mode....or what?

I think we would have been taken to a different story but still got Mutation Mode.

The patch and the event are fairly unrelated. I'm willing to bet we'd have gotten Mutation Mode either way.

No it would have been:

Congrats,GR,you have done a good job,but we have informations that BL has a substance capable of mutating any human to a much more powerful one and as desperate as they are they will surely use it. Beware of it!

Rival Factions hold every member as an alternate account, which doesn't rank or anything.

All are smileys.

And the point of my text was that they easily could have covered releasing MM even with GR winning.

Who gives a sht about what they would have written exactly.

all that rival faction thing seems like a crap to me, useless weapons for 7 days when you win? and no storyline at all, i dunno, its just my opinion. but they surely spent some hours doing it, maybe they could use their time better for some other benefits

The story behind mutation mode involves BL stealing Project Titan from GR, followed by the mutants escaping. The only difference would've been that the mutants would've escaped from GR instead of BL.
